    Slum tour with Dheeraj

Had a really good experience on this private slum tour with Dheeraj! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and explained the history and details very clearly. We got to see both the commercial and residential slums, as well as the pottery area and schools, which gave us a better understanding of the community and daily life there. It was eye-opening and meaningful. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Mumbai!

Response from the operator: We truly appreciate your fantastic feedback! At Magical Mumbai Tours, we design our community walking tours to be comprehensive, ensuring our guests see both the incredible economic productivity of the commercial sectors and the warm reality of daily residential life. Hearing that Dheeraj’s friendly approach and clear historical insights made this journey so meaningful for you is highly rewarding for our team. Thank you for taking the time to highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mumbai!

    Slumdog scenes

Good enough trip to see and feel extraordinary life. Good to show to kids, who are used to live in prosperity and do not respect others.

    The Dharvi Slum tour

It was fantastic- the guide Pooja grew up in Dharvi and explained the living conditions, the businesses that operate there and how people lived. She knew the area very well and was sensitive to the culture. She spoke English very well, articulating her thoughts with a sense of humour.

Response from the operator: We are delighted that you found the tour fantastic! At Magical Mumbai Tours, we believe that "sensitivity to the culture" is the most important part of what we do. It’s wonderful to hear that Pooja’s deep local knowledge and excellent English helped articulate the complexities of life and industry in the area. Thank you for choosing us!

    Inspirational

I was initially worried about spending time in India, unsure of how I would handle the cultural shock, so I decided to confront it head on and becoming more informed. This tour was perfect. Our guide was a delight as she shared the many accomplishments of the slum area in which she lived. Recycling plastics seemed to take centre stage, they also have a strong leather industry, and many street vendors. What was remarkable was that we experienced zero begging in the slums, unlike everywhere else we went in Mumbai. The people work hard, get paid little, but there is a very strong sense of community, coupled with hope. It’s amazing to see the strength, determination and resilience of these people!

Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mumbai.

How much does Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit cost?

    +

Prices start at $32 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mumbai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mumbai is not rushed.

Is Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 88 out of 100, which we label "Exceptional". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 198 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most highly reviewed in Mumbai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit?

    +

Around 69 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mumbai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mumbai and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Slumdog Millionaire Tour in Dharavi with Slum Visit start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mumbai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Mumbai?

    +

On Outty we rank every Mumbai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Elephanta Caves & Island Guided Private Tour, Dharavi Slum Tour, Mumbai: Dharavi Slum & Dhobi Ghat Laundry Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Mumbai?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Mumbai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
