What you'll see and do
Monte Igueldo
They say that God made a model of paradise and that once it was built, he kept the model… thus, San Sebastián was born. To understand (and enjoy) the natural beauty of San Sebastián, we’ll start at the top of Mount Igueldo where you’ll find the most amazing views of the city. There we’ll learn about the history of the Basque Country, the Bay of Biscay and the role of San Sebastián in all this. Can you get rich trading wool? Were boats of a quality and reputation similar to that of Ferraris and Porsches manufactured in sixteenth century Euskadi? Yes, and yes.
30 minutes here · Admission included
Peine del Viento
The best way to descend Igueldo is aboard its wooden funicular, which is more than 100 years old. We get off next to the most photographed sculpture in the city: the Peine del Viento by Eduardo Chillida, made of corten steel (hence its deliberate rust color.) To scratch the winds and frequent waves of this place.
15 minutes here
Zurriolako Hondartza
We’ll head over to the other 'Finis Terrae' of the city, Sagüés and La Zurriola, the epicenter of the surfing scene in San Sebastián. But first we’ll check out the main hallmarks of the city: its 'posh' side, its romantic nooks, the palace built for royal summers at the end of the 19th century (Miramar Palace), the French-influenced, modernist and rationalist buildings (with the odd nod to the Bauhaus), or more recent architecture such as the Kursaal, two buildings that seem to be beached rocks by the sea.
45 minutes here
Parte Vieja
The Old Town is the gastronomic epicenter of San Sebastián (yes, here are the pintxo bars, the gastronomic sociedades ‘ [think private eating clubs], seasoned locals enjoying the timeless 'txikiteo' [a sort of uptempo bar-hopping] – ordering 'zuritos' or 'cañas'. Here is the gluttonous, indulgent San Sebastián you’ve heard tell of), and the site of the city’s oldest buildings. You’ll come away with a Master's Degree in navigating “miniature cuisine” (how do you order a pintxo? When do you pay?), and High Honors in Basque bars. Okay. Let's talk about serious things. Everything we’ve told you about pintxos wouldn’t make sense if we didn’t visit the most iconic bars to try their most famous pintxos accompanied by cider, wine or beer. The snack will end with the sweet dessert that locals love to eat while walking down the street: a creamy, sweet and stunning artisanal ice cream. Now you can go to bed satisfied.

Phenomenal, personalized Tour of San Sebastián!
Our guide, Malena, was so amazing and personable. It was like having a friend that lives in San Sebastián show us around, lots of great insider tips and very personalized for us!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! We love hearing that Malena made the experience feel amazing. That personal touch and those little insider tips are exactly what we want our guests to take away from the day. We’ll make sure to pass your lovely words on to her!

Seeing San Sebastián - a feast for the eyes and the palate
Visited San Sebastián for the 2nd time but this time with family. Tried a new tour company - Ikusnahi Tours - and was not disappointed! Our guide, Olatz was a total gem!!! She was so extremely considerate of my mother, who uses a walker to for stability when walking, and despite that she took us all over the city. She was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Olatz made it very personable and fun…we truly felt as though we were seeing the city with a family member. We took the sightseeing tour that included the pintxos crawl of 3 bars. This was just perfect for us since we had just landed and I wanted to ease my family into the food scene shortly after landing. Olatz so elegantly described the history of the pintxos bars, the specialty pintxo/s we had at each bar, and the drinks we tried. Explaining the history of txakoli and sidra was a fun highlight. We especially enjoyed Olatz’s skill in pouring Txakoli on an exceptionally windy evening! Everything was perfect and delicious!! During the sightseeing portion, she never rushed us through and explained everything so eloquently…you could truly feel the passion and love she has for her city, despite her being originally from Bilbao! A shout out to Ikusnahi Tours…the company is top notch and Lucia is a gem! She PATIENTLY answered every and all questions I had when building my tours (and I had many!!). eskerrik asko, Lucia!!
Response from the operator: This was such a lovely review to read :) Olatz has a very natural way of making people feel comfortable and connected to the city, so we’re really happy your whole family could enjoy San Sebastián at an easy pace and still experience so much of its culture, food and atmosphere. And yes… pouring txakoli on a windy Donosti evening should probably count as a local sport! Also, eskerrik asko for the kind words about Lucía. She truly cares about helping guests create the right experience for their trip, and she’ll be smiling reading this. We hope San Sebastián stole your family’s heart just a little bit more this second time around.

A City to Visit - and Return
What a beautiful City. The tour was the best of the best my guide treated us like family, my grandkids were very comfortable asking questions and learning the history of the city and eating the best food (Pintxos). Excellent !
Response from the operator: Thanks so much, Alba! We love that you enjoyed the tour and we're really happy the kids felt comfortable to dive into the history and, of course, the pintxos. It was a pleasure having you all with us. We’d love to see you back in the city again someday!

San Sebastián Sightseeing with Martin
Martin was our guide for a private tour of San Sebastian and the whole experience was delightful!! Martin is very knowledgeable and exudes good vibes and a clear passion for his city. At every stop he shared stories about the city and the Basque people. It was truly a treat to be with him and we all fell in love with San Sebastián.
Response from the operator: This made us smile :) San Sebastián has a way of stealing people’s hearts, especially when discovering it through its stories, food, little corners and local traditions. Martin truly loves this city and the Basque culture, so he’ll be very happy to know that passion came through during your day together. Thanks for exploring Donosti with us and for such lovely words about the experience!

Amazing way to explore San Sebastián
My family and I took the sightseeing and pintxos tour with Ernes, and loved it so much! You get a very nice overview of the city’s structure and history, and end the tour with a fantastic selection of bars. Ernes was so nice and sincere. We learned a lot about the basque region in such a short amount of time. The reservation process was also very smooth. The company is very well run. We cannot recommend enough!
Response from the operator: We’re really happy you and your family enjoyed discovering San Sebastián with Ernes :) Combining the history, local culture and the rhythm of the city with a good pintxos route is one of our favorite ways to introduce people to Donosti. Ernes will be very happy to hear you appreciated both the stories and the relaxed atmosphere along the way. And thank you as well for the kind words about the organization behind the scenes. Eskerrik asko for trusting us with your time in the Basque Country!

Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Sebastian.
How much does Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $25 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Sebastian usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour take?
+
Plan for about 4.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Sebastian is not rushed.
Is Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Sebastian, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Sebastian can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Sebastian and add a light layer if any part of the 4.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private San Sebastian Highlights & Pintxos Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Sebastian within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Sebastian?
+
On Outty we rank every San Sebastian experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Small-Group Electric Bike Tour in San Sebastián, San Sebastian Old Town Pintxos & Wine Tour Small Group Tour, San Sebastian Premium Pintxo Food, Wine & Market Foodie Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Sebastian?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Sebastian?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
