Dangerous Safety Hazard: Intoxicated Driver, Broken Seatbelts & Verbal Abuse- DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR.

This was not merely a bad experience; it was an extreme safety hazard and criminal endangerment. Extreme Delay & Vehicle Safety Defect: The guides arrived over 75 minutes late. The vehicle was old, filthy, and equipped with non-functional passenger seatbelts. The male guide was completely unkempt, unshaven, reeking of body odor, and wearing flip-flops and ragged clothing. Intoxication & Erratic Driving: During lunch, I observed the male guide consume a substantial amount of wine. He then took the wheel and drove erratically across the road, putting our lives in immediate physical danger. Aggression & Abandonment: When I raised safety concerns and asked the female guide to drive, the male guide flew into an explosive, 15-minute profanity-laced rage. I was genuinely concerned he was going to physically assault me. He then abandoned us at a remote beach for over an hour. Ocean Swim & Driver Swap: When they finally returned, the male guide was soaking wet from the ocean after jumping into the sea to try to sober up. They executed a driver swap for the return trip—a clear admission that he was unfit to drive. Incomplete Tour: Between the delays, the guide's outburst, and being abandoned on the beach, we only saw about 50% of the advertised itinerary. On the drive back, both guides chain-smoked in the vehicle. We have filed a formal complaint with Viator Trust & Safety demanding a full 100% refund and reporting this operator to Turismo de Portugal. Avoid this operator at all costs for your own physical safety.

Response from the operator: This review deserves a response because what happened was not simply a case of a guest having a bad experience. It was an attempt to reconstruct an entire day through exaggerated and demonstrably inaccurate allegations in order to obtain a full refund. And, unfortunately for that narrative, there is one rather important detail the guest seems to have overlooked: The guide involved was the owner of the company himself. He was there. He witnessed what happened. He knows exactly what was said, what was done, how long the delay was, what happened with the vehicle, and how the situation developed. There is therefore no need for speculation or second-hand information. The claim of a 75-minute delay is false. The actual delay was approximately 30 minutes, and the guests had already been informed that accidents and traffic were causing delays. The allegation that the guide was intoxicated is false. The allegation that the vehicle had defective seatbelts is false. The allegation that changing drivers constituted an admission that the guide was unfit to drive is false. And the suggestion that the guests were deliberately abandoned is also a distortion of what actually happened. What is particularly striking is how ordinary events were repeatedly transformed into alleged “evidence” of misconduct. Even the music played during the journey became part of the narrative. The guide played George Michael’s “One More Try”, and the guest bizarrely interpreted it as a reference to a paedophile and a victim. He later discovered that this interpretation was completely unfounded. Nevertheless, another accusation had already been created. The guest repeatedly describes the atmosphere as “toxic”. The irony is difficult to miss: the toxicity described in this review appears to be a projection of the behaviour the guest himself brought into the experience. From the very beginning, during the transfer from Lisbon to Sesimbra, the guest entered the vehicle without greeting the other passengers and immediately contributed to an unnecessarily hostile atmosphere. Rather than travelling with the normal openness one expects from someone discovering a new destination, he appeared to approach the experience looking for something to criticise. Nuno, who conducted the transfer, subsequently refused to transport these guests again because of the atmosphere and behaviour they had created. That decision had nothing whatsoever to do with any alleged intoxication of the guide. So perhaps the most uncomfortable conclusion is also the simplest: An attempt to turn a paid experience into a free one through increasingly serious accusations did not work. The guest's way of travelling — arriving with suspicion, searching for faults, escalating ordinary situations into accusations and ultimately attempting to obtain a refund through those accusations — did not produce the desired result. And because the person accused was the owner of the company himself, the attempt was particularly unfortunate. He was not relying on someone else's version of events. He was there. We have spent many years welcoming travellers and understand that occasionally someone will dislike an experience. That is perfectly legitimate. But there is a fundamental difference between saying “I didn't enjoy the tour” and constructing a story of intoxication, defective safety equipment, abandonment and endangerment when those allegations do not correspond to what occurred. To future guests, we have only one suggestion: Look at the entire pot of reviews. Do not judge a company by one angry account written after an unsuccessful attempt to obtain a refund. Look at the hundreds of independent travellers who have experienced our service over the years. One review can tell a story. THE FULL HISTORY TELLS YOU WHETHER THAT STORY IS CREDIBLE. ( You did a visible projection) In this case, the attempt to destroy the reputation of the company in order to obtain a free experience simply failed. And perhaps that is the most important fact of all.

    Absolutely Epic!

This was truly an unforgettable experience. Rafael isn’t just a guide; he is an incredible person who clearly loves sharing the beauty and history of Portugal. From the very start, he made us feel comfortable and welcomed, and it quickly felt less like a tour and more like exploring with a knowledgeable friend. He took us to breathtaking hidden spots that we never would have found on our own, each with stunning views and fascinating stories behind them. His knowledge of Portuguese history and culture added so much depth to the day, and he had a special way of bringing each place to life. On top of that, Rafael is so well connected that he was able to get us into unique locations that most visitors would never have access to, which made the whole experience feel extra special and one of a kind. We came away with not just amazing memories but also a deeper appreciation for Portugal thanks to Rafael’s passion and insight. It was an absolute blast from start to finish, and we would happily do this excursion all over again the next time we are here. Highly recommended!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience with us! It truly means the world to our local team to know that you enjoyed the tour. We’re passionate about sharing the authentic flavors, landscapes, and traditions of our region, and it’s always a joy to hear that it resonated with our guests. Your kind words encourage us to keep doing what we love — creating meaningful, immersive experiences that connect people with the real essence of this beautiful place we call home. We hope to welcome you back again someday for another adventure — whether it’s more wine, food, culture, a hike, or an off-road journey!

    Don’t Use Look Around Tours!

On March 3rd I signed up and paid for the private Espichel Cape and West Coast 7 hour May 14th tour. On May 12th, the night before it as the deadline to cancel, I got an email from the company asking if I could reschedule for the 13th or the 15th. I said that I had committed to other tours for the 13th and I was leaving the 15th. So they said they would keep the tour on the 14th. On the 14th a guy showed up with a jeep that was clearly having mechanical problems and drove us to the areas near the beaches where buses were parked but no off road as advertised. He told us that being there was his way to relax, too and left us to look around on our own without guidance. Then he got on his phone where he staid except when he was driving. Turns out he worked for another company and had lots of work to do! He skipped areas where he was supposed to take us and drove us back to town and suggested lunch. He took us to his friend’s restaurant where he told us they were very busy and it would take a while to be served. He said he would park the jeep and be in a bar with WiFi so he could work and we should find him. We said we were leaving the restaurant and he said, well find me in the bar when you are ready to continue. We still had over 3 hours left on our tour and the jeeps mechanical condition was getting worse. We found the jeep but not him, so we walked back to our hotel and wrote to the company telling them that we felt cheated. No response.

Response from the operator: We take all guest feedback seriously; however, after careful review, we have no record of you participating in any of our tours. Leaving a review without experiencing our service misleads future travelers and unfairly damages our reputation. We kindly ask that only genuine experiences be shared on this platform.

Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Lisbon.

How much does Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches cost?

    +

Prices start at $99 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Lisbon usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Lisbon is not rushed.

Is Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 61 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Lisbon, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches?

    +

Around 21 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Lisbon can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Lisbon and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Safari Tour to Espichel Cape & West Coast Wild Beaches start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Lisbon within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Lisbon?

    +

On Outty we rank every Lisbon experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Lisbon City Center Tour - The Unmissable Lisbon, Sintra Private Trip from Lisbon Customizable Dreamlike Experience, True 4Hour Private Tuk Tuk Tour: Discover Lisbon with a Local!. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Lisbon?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Lisbon?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
