    11/10 highly recommend

I can’t say enough good things about our experience with Vallarta Roots and Pepe! 🇲🇽🌴 We booked round-trip transportation from Puerto Vallarta Airport to Iberostar Playa Mita, which is about an hour away. We had six ladies on the way to the resort, and Pepe arrived with a spacious van where everyone had plenty of room for themselves, luggage, and personal items. From the very beginning, his communication was excellent. He was extremely prompt and gave us very clear instructions on exactly where to meet him at the airport. After walking outside into the August heat and humidity, we were especially grateful for the cold towels, bottled water, and delicious welcome drinks waiting for us. It was such a thoughtful touch! On our departure day, Pepe picked us up exactly at 8:30 AM, as promised. He helped load all of our luggage and, along the way, shared so much local information about the areas we were driving through. What started as transportation turned into so much more. He took us around Puerto Vallarta and stopped at several local highlights so we could take everything in and get some great photos. We also stopped at a little shopping area where we were able to pick up trinkets for ourselves and our families. The prices were very reasonable, and they had practically everything you could want—from souvenirs to candy and ice cream. It ended up being a perfect little one-stop shopping stop. He then took us farther along the coast to see more of Puerto Vallarta and really made the most of our time together. He kept a close eye on the clock and got us back to the airport with plenty of time to check our luggage and get through security without feeling rushed. And I have to mention his driving! 😂 Some of the cobblestone streets in Puerto Vallarta are incredibly narrow, yet Pepe navigated them with impeccable driving skills. I felt completely comfortable the entire time. August was HOT and extremely humid, so having a comfortable, air-conditioned van to return to throughout the day was honestly a blessing. It allowed us to see so much more without spending the entire day walking around in the heat. By the end of the day, Pepe honestly felt less like our transportation driver and more like a really good friend who happened to be showing us around Puerto Vallarta. ❤️ I’ll actually be returning to the area with my family in November, and I already know I’ll be reaching out to Vallarta Roots again. This time, I’d love for Pepe to take us to some of the places I didn’t get to explore as much and show my family more of the area. If you’re visiting Puerto Vallarta and want more than just a ride from point A to point B, I highly recommend Vallarta Roots. The hospitality, communication, local knowledge, comfort, and personal attention really made our experience special. Thank you, Pepe, for taking such great care of us and making our time in Puerto Vallarta even more memorable! 🇲🇽

    Family fun tour

We used Vallarta Roots during a cruise down to Mexico. Pepe is a local guy who knows all the area being born and raised there. Speaks perfect English and can customize a tour for you. We had 6 kids ranging from 1-17 and they all loved it. We would definitely use him again. The air conditioned van was an added plus as well as cold waters, beers, soda and margaritas!

    Beautiful trip!!

The whole experience was awesome, Pepe is very knowledgeable and kind. He showed us around el Malecón, then headed to some beautiful lookout/sightseeing areas where you could see PV from high up very beautiful. Also got to visit San Sebastian del Oeste and La Bufa there, and got to see the agave fields as well as tasting local raicilla and tequilas which was awesome. Got the chance to snorkel with the fishes in Los Arcos which was unforgettable some of them even got as close to a couple feet away from you. It’s hard to be brief but everything was amazing, very good guide if you decide to go with Pepe you are in good hands. On top of all those, we stopped by playa Mismaloya, canopy river to get on the hanging bridge, and an awesome restaurant off the coast called el Coral which had amazing ceviche one of my favs, among others. Definitely recommend it, everything went smooth and just very enjoyable.

Informed polite friendly tour guide from Puerto Vallarta.

Pepe provided a custom tour of the old "zona romantica", the coastal beaches, and into the forests. We had a wonderful tour with insights to the local history, living in Mexico, and the best places to stop for photos. We went through the high end old neighborhood, stops along the beach lookouts, and into he forest for lunch next to the river. Lunch was some of the best Mexican food we have had this trip. The animals, river slides and the zip lines were all great activities. A final stop for shopping in the old town was a great way to finish our tour. Highly recommend this private tour option.

Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City cost?

    +

Prices start at $350 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 58 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Puerto Vallarta Journey Through the Heart of the City start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
