1. Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban

   Discover the grandeur of Monte Albán, one of the most important archaeological areas of Mexico and a World Heritage Site. Located on top of a mountain, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Central Valleys of Oaxaca. During the visit, travelers will tour the Grand Plaza, explore temples, ceremonial platforms and meet the mysterious “Danzantes”, figures carved in stone with great historical value. Through the explanation of a certified guide, they will understand the importance of this ancient Zapotec city, its development, organization and cultural legacy. This experience combines history, architecture and unique landscapes, allowing visitors to connect with one of the most important civilizations in Mesoamerica.

2. Visit the community of Santo Tomas Jalieza, renowned for its textile tradition and the use of the waist loom, an ancestral technique of pre-Hispanic origin that continues to this day. During the experience, travelers will observe how artisans craft pieces entirely by hand, using cotton threads and creating designs full of cultural symbolism. The step-by-step process from loom assembly to weaving will be explained, showing the precision and time required for each piece. In addition, they will be able to interact directly with the craftswomen, know the meaning of embroidery and appreciate the cultural value of this traditional technique that is part of the identity of Oaxaca.

3. San Martin Tilcajete

   Visit San Martín Tilcajete, one of the most renowned towns in Oaxaca for the creation of the famous alebrijes, figures carved in wood with vibrant colors and great cultural significance. During the experience, travelers will enter a craft workshop where they will know the whole process: from the selection and carving of the copal wood, to the sanding, drying and detailed painting that gives life to each piece. The artisans will share the meaning of these figures, many of them inspired by “nahuales” or protective animals within the Zapotec worldview. It is an authentic experience that allows us to understand the work, tradition and cultural identity behind each farm, as well as the opportunity to interact directly with master craftsmen.

4. San Bartolo

   Visit San Bartolo Coyotepec, renowned for making the famous black mud, one of the most emblematic crafts in Oaxaca. During the experience, travelers will enter a craft workshop where they will know the complete process: from the extraction and preparation of the mud, the molding by hand or around, to the burnishing technique that gives it that characteristic black shine without the need for enamels. Craftsmen will share the history and evolution of this technique, as well as the cultural significance it has within the community. It is a unique opportunity to appreciate the detailed work behind each piece and understand why black mud is considered one of the most important expressions of Oaxacan art.
