A memorable experience
A very well organized visit that allowed us to know places and typical Portuguese dishes. All thanks to our guide Claudia, who found the right places and shared her life in Porto. Thank you again to her for this remarkable experience.

Authentic genuine glimpse at real food personalities
Authentic genuine tour far from superficial tourist oriented spots. You meet personnalities of the local foodies and you get told why. Highly recommended. Not to be missed.

A Great Way to Start Your Stay in Porto
This private tour was a great way to get to know some of the culinary delights of Porto. Our guide, Claudia, was knowledgable and able to take us to places that might not be on typical tourist radar to get a true tasting of what Porto has to offer. She is a native speaker of both English and Portuguese, and was able to explain the origins and cultural significance of the foods and drinks we were sampling. The tour does include a sampling of ports and some local beer, if you are interested. Prior to the tour, Claudia reached out to ask a few questions to help plan the outing, including food preferences, allergies, and any physical limitations, as Porto is not a flat city. I made this booking at the last minute, and she responded promptly even into the evening. She also showed us local sights we were passing and was able share some of the day-to-day life in Porto. Overall, It was thoroughly enjoyable to spend the afternoon being guided through the local cuisine with her. After the tour, Claudia provided recommendations for other things to do based on our interests. I understand she is an independent operator, so you can be assured that any recommendations are based on her experience living in Porto vs a company list. I would recommend doing this tour early in your visit to learn about what foods you might want "seconds" of and things you might want to do/see for the rest of your visit.
Response from the operator: It was lovely meeting you two, and I was happy to be your tour guide for the day. Although your your trip to Porto was quite short I am glad you made time for a food tour, and grateful you chose it be with me.

Food Tour Porto
Claudia was a great tour guide, we went as two couples to Porto in September 2023 and all enjoyed the tour. We were running late due to check-in problems at the hotel but the communication between us and Claudia was great, she waited for us to arrive (thankfully only 10 minutes late) before starting the tour with another couple. There were six stops during the tour with something different to try at each location, Claudia was a brilliant host with lots of local knowledge and information about the food and drink. Definitely worth booking with her. 10 out of 10 from us.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much! It was lovely meeting you, and I'm very happy you enjoyed the tour and the time spent with me.

Great food tour with Claudia
Food tour with a teenager can be a success or a total flop. The food tour with Claudia was a great success. Claudia gave us a profound and interesting view of the food, culture and way of living in Portugal. Claudia is a rare example of how a food tour guide needs to be.
Response from the operator: I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your time! Also what a great compliment, good to know I look so young. (I am 26 years old by the way hahah)

Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Portuguese Food Tour: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Private Portuguese Food Tour cost?
+
Prices start at $80 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Portuguese Food Tour take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Private Portuguese Food Tour worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Portuguese Food Tour?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Portuguese Food Tour suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Portuguese Food Tour?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Portuguese Food Tour start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
