Lovgen National Park and Food and Wine tasting
This experience was one of the best excursions we have ever had. Our tour guide, Dragan, was one of the best guides we have ever had. We were on a Viking cruise, but chose to do a small group private tour and boy we were rewarded! First, the time of year was critical. We were there in early November so there was not a lot of traffic on the 25 switchback highway. We saw only 4 buses and none of those went toward Peter II's grave. Thus, the trip up took only about 1 hour with stops. Dragan showed us pictures in the busier season of literally a hundred vehicles backed up because the road is so narrow and people have to back up to let folks through. Thus , we had extra time for the tour! Next , when we got to the top snack shop we were the only visitors there! During the whole time we drove up Dragan passionately recounted the history of the area including his family's roots dating back to 1500. His love of Montenegro impressed me and added enjoyment to the trip. Dragan, my friend and I traversed the 461 stairs to the crypt and saw the most beautiful views of the country. He recounted the history of the crypt and all the details surrounding it. After these amazing views we went to a village to taste prosciutto, cheese, wine and Grappa. The cherry brandy was unbelievable! The real surprise was getting to go to Dragan's family smokehouse and learn all about the process from him including the family history. He was absolutely amazing!!! We got extra time because the traffic was so good, so he gave us a further tour of Kotor. I cannot express the gratitude enough to him other than to say thanks and YOU need to spend the money and book this tour. Amazing!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the wonderful words, it was a pleasure to spend time with you and I hope to see you again

A Montenegro Immersion
A fantastic day with Alex our guide who lived in the area and was able to give us the history as well as current affairs. Going as a private tour was a true VIP experience. The day was a fabulous balance of experience, seeing, tasting and learning. The tour description is a teaser for what you will actually have the privilege to share. A must do!
Response from the operator: Dear Jenny, Thank you for your kind words about Alex and I'm glad you were satisfied with the tour. Best wishes from me and Alex.

Our favorite day of our entire trip!
Perfect day! Our favorite day of our entire tour! Don’t hesitate, book now!!!!! Best local experience with Dragan! The experience and view on top of the mountain was out of this world. Lots of steps but worth it for the view. Enjoyed visiting the national park and learning the history of this beautiful country with a local. Best tasting experience enjoying the fruits of his and his family’s labor. We were impressed with his passion in carrying on his family tradition. Best prosciutto you’ll ever taste. All of their products were wonderful! The cherry liqueur was my favorite. Purchased some with us to enjoy again at an excellent price!
Response from the operator: Thank you very much for the kind words, it is a pleasure to meet and spend the day with such wonderful people. Many greetings and I hope you will have the opportunity to visit Montenegro again.

The personal touch
Our tour with Dragan exceeded our expectations in every way. Dragan had extensive knowledge of the history of Montenegro spanning over the last millennium and we enjoyed hearing about that as we looked over sweeping panoramas and beautiful monuments. Montenegro is beautiful to look at even without the background, but learning the history gives it a richness that feels much more powerful. But what really made this tour a one-of-a-kind, standout experience was the personal touch. Learning about the lives of the Montenegrin people through chatting with Dragan and then finally as Dragan shared his own home, and his family's homemade prosciutto and rakija with us, and local wine made by his friends and neighbors. We got to see the pictures of his ancestors, family heirlooms, homemade crafts, and other pieces of cultural memorabilia. We saw where his family cures and smokes hundreds of legs of prosciutto and learned in depth about the labor that goes into process of prosciutto production. For us, it was this personal touch that made Dragan's tour an unforgettable highlight of our trip here in Montenegro. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to get more intimately acquainted with the local culture.
Response from the operator: It was a pleasure to be in the company of such positive and interesting people. I hope you will have the opportunity to visit our country again. Many greetings from Montenegro and thanks for everything.

Best scenic tour
This was by far the best experience we had on the trip! Dragan was super knowledgable, and answered any question we asked. After the scenic tour we went to his family home and ate the best prosciutto and goat cheese we’d ever had (and we are meat and cheese lovers). This is a must do, I highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Dear Grace, Thank you very much for the kind words, it was a pleasure to spend the day with such wonderful young people.

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kotor.
How much does Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting cost?
+
Prices start at $15 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kotor usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kotor is not rushed.
Is Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 33 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kotor, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting?
+
Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kotor can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kotor and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private National Park Lovcen with food and wine tasting start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kotor within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kotor?
+
On Outty we rank every Kotor experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Great Montenegro Tour-Lovcen NP,Mausoleum Lovcen,River of Crnojevic,Sveti Stefan, Kotor Bay Escape: Blue Cave, Beach & Swimming Time, Exclusive Blue Cave Kotor Swim, Mamula&Lady of the Rock 3 Hour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kotor?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kotor?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
