What you'll see and do

  1. Emerald Lake

The Activity: A scenic, mostly level hike along the shoreline of Emerald Lake - one of British Columbia’s most spectacular alpine lakes. We hit the day's furthest point first, experiencing the vivid turquoise of the "Jewel of Yoho" and its breadth of geological features through active discovery before the mid-day rush. The full lakeside loop is 5.2km; we will complete the trail in its entirety or in part, depending on your group’s preference, the season, and current trail conditions. Duration: 1–2 hours.

90 minutes here · Admission included

  2. Natural Bridge

The Activity: A brief stop along Emerald Lake Road to observe the Kicking Horse River as it carves its way through solid rock.

15 minutes here · Admission included

  3. Lake Louise

The Activity: A visit to the most iconic basin in the range. We’ll move along the shoreline to reach the quieter vantage points of the lake and surrounding peaks, offering a better perspective of the Victoria Glacier and castle-like Fairmont Chateau. The in-and-out lakeshore trail is up to 4.6km in length, with nominal elevation gain. Duration: 1–1.5 hours.

    75 minutes here

  4. Moraine Lake

The Activity: At Moraine Lake, we combine a stroll along the forest-fringed lakeshore (up to 2.5km return) with a short climb up the "Rockpile" trail (350m each way). This provides a dual perspective: close-up views from the water’s edge, and the iconic, elevated vista of the stunning Ten Peaks and turquoise waters from the Rockpile perch. On our return toward Banff, we have the option for a quick pitstop at Lake Louise Village. Duration: 1–1.5 hours. Note: Because Moraine Lake Road is closed to all vehicles during the winter season (and to private, non-commercial vehicles year-round), this stop is only available between June and mid-October. Our van has the necessary permits for direct access during this window, so there is no need to change vehicles or worry about shuttle queues.

75 minutes here · Admission included

  5. Bow Valley Parkway

The Activity: Time permitting, we transition to the Bow Valley Parkway for part of the leg back toward Banff. A quieter and more relaxed alternative to the Trans-Canada Highway, this route offers a different perspective of the valley and more frequent wildlife sightings. Note: certain sections are subject to seasonal closures for wildlife and to create a vehicle free experience for cyclists; during these times, we utilize the most scenic accessible portions of the route.

A “Must Do” on your Banff Trip!

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. I normally don’t leave reviews, but I had a fantastic experience with a fantastic guide. Booking- In a world with AI, it was amazing to actually speak with a human on the phone. Russell took the time to speak with us about our family (6 people ages 13 to 53) and our interests. He created a customized plan that was tailored to each individual. Then day of, he further customized the plan based on what we liked for each part of the tour. Experience- when we go to a new place, we love to learn about the area. Keeping a 13 and 16 year old entertained for 9 hours is a challenge. However, Russell was so approachable and open they both started asking questions and learning. Amazingly, they stayed off their phones for the whole tour. I think out of our 200 questions, we stumped Russell 3 times. Overall, this experience wasn’t just seeing amazing sites, but truly enjoyable because there was no waiting around or faking small talk with strangers. We were able to have fun as a family and have a great tailor made experience all due to Russell’s adaptability and great hospitality.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Brye, for taking the time to leave such a great review! We truly appreciate it, and I’m so happy that you had such a positive experience on your tour. All the questions and curiosity from you all was awesome - it was such a fun day! I hope you had a blast with the rest of your visit as well :)

How long does Private Moraine Lake, Lake Louise & Emerald Lake - From Calgary take?

+

Is Private Moraine Lake, Lake Louise & Emerald Lake - From Calgary worth it?

+

That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 1 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Calgary, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Moraine Lake, Lake Louise & Emerald Lake - From Calgary?

+

Is Private Moraine Lake, Lake Louise & Emerald Lake - From Calgary suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 1. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 11-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private Moraine Lake, Lake Louise & Emerald Lake - From Calgary?

+

Around 0 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Calgary can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Calgary and add a light layer if any part of the 11-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Moraine Lake, Lake Louise & Emerald Lake - From Calgary start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Calgary within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Calgary?

+

On Outty we rank every Calgary experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Explore Banff National Park Premium Day Trip, Discover Banff National Park - Premium Day Trip, Day of Dinosaurs & Hoodoos from Calgary to Drumheller Badlands. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Calgary?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Calgary?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
