    State gourmet delight

Tanya was a terrific hostess. From the time we entered her home she explained her plans for the evening. All ingredients and tools needed were set up on the countertop. We started with making guacamole, moved on to chocolate moose and chicken enchiladas. As an appetizer she shared her star fruit - Yum! After finishing our delicious meal in her beautiful patio she even sent us home with leftovers. A true gourmet delight…. Thank you Tanya for a wonderful evening…. Tanya’s class is highly recommended…

Book This Class For Your Favorite Mexico Day

Cooking Class by Tanya: We booked this class because my husband and I both enjoy cooking experiences. We felt brave to take a taxi into the new neighborhood and visit a private home. However, the reward was great, and we felt blessed to have met Tanya. Her home was very clean and newly remodeled. Her personality showed that she enjoyed cooking. We helped her prep 3 dishes and her recipes were shared. She offered us a Paloma cocktail with our guacamole appetizer and chips. We enjoyed our meal of chicken enchiladas on her beautiful patio! Local sounds of this neighborhood included roosters crowing in the town, which I really liked! Our conversations were very pleasant and filled with her knowledge of her local lifestyle. Tanya is a very kind and generous person. The doorbell rang two times with children asking for treats that she offers them. Of course, there was a flavorful dessert. I am very close to telling the secret ingredient in it. However, I think that you need to take her cooking class to learn it and taste it. You won’t regret it…yummy! By the way, this last tidbit will tell you more about Tanya’s character. Tanya invited our taxi driver, who waited for us, to eat chicken enchiladas and more with us! Are you impressed yet? She sent leftover containers full of food home with us and a star fruit off her backyard tree. This class fee gave us 2 meals!!! From start to finish, our total experience helped make our trip to the Puerto Vallarta area very memorable. FYI tip: Get her correct address off of your first confirmation email. Look for the full address on Arrayan St. What confused us was only noting 48280 Ixtapa which is only a zip code.

    Great homey experience

We were welcomed by Tanya who was warm and very friendly! She allowed us to help her prepare three dishes which were very delicious. She was very accommodating to all our needs. We would definitely recommend her to other friends.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so happy to hear that Tanya made you feel warmly welcomed and that you enjoyed preparing and sharing the three dishes together. She truly loves involving guests in the cooking and making sure everyone feels comfortable and cared for. We are especially glad to hear that she was accommodating to your needs and that the food was a highlight of the experience. Your recommendation means a great deal to us and to Tanya. Thank you for choosing Traveling Spoon. We would be delighted to host you again on a future trip and share another memorable experience together.

    Yummy simple Mexican food!

We arrived early, not knowing how long it would take to get from the Malecon to the cooking class and she was ready for us. She was very welcoming, friendly, and her home is lovely. We made guacamole, and it was exactly the same way. I made it at home, so of course I liked it. Then we made a chocolate avocado mousse, which I never had before, and I will definitely have again. That was followed by chicken enchiladas, which were very simple that were very delicious. We were served a Palermo upon arrival which my husband loved more than I did, but I don’t like 7-Up. And she had a lovely glass of either white or red wine for us while we waited for the enchiladas to cook. Her new puppy Howie was adorable and he entertained his while we waited for the enchiladas to cook. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I would highly recommend it

Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home cost?

    +

Prices start at $60 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 12 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home?

    +

Around 4 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Mexican Cooking Class & Tequila Cocktail at Tanya’s Home start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
