An Amazing Adventure with a Wonderful Guide!

Julian was an amazing guide! From the excellent planning, comfortable ride, wonderful views and great snacks, this trip was perfect. Julian was extremely knowledgeable and personable, I left the tour feeling like I had spent time with an old friend rather than someone I just met. I wish I could rate this experience higher than 5 stars because it deserves more. I couldn't recommend this experience more.

    Perfect, Personalized, Fun

My husband and I did the 4 day highlands tour with Julian to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. When Julian picked us up at our hotel, we immediately felt like we were hanging out with a friend. Conversation was easy, things never felt awkward, and he was so knowledgeable about everything we asked him. I could go on and on about how perfect our trip was so I thought I would highlight things that really made Julian/Arctic Exped stand out. -On our first day, he surprised us with a stop overlooking a spectacular glacier to have a picnic and champagne to celebrate our anniversary. -The next morning, I had a kink in my neck and I mentioned it to Julian over breakfast. He asked if I thought a massage would help and within a couple of hours, he had a massage booked at our next accommodation. -I told him I would like to get pictures in a lupine field. Lo and behold, he finds the most gorgeous lupine field with a HUGE waterfall as the backdrop 🥹 -His photography and drone skills are unmatched. Julian knew all of the perfect spots for pictures and even did a couples shoot for me and my husband 😍I’m so grateful Julian captured our entire adventure. I also attached pictures that Julian took! Thank you Julian for making our trip better than we could have ever imagined!!!!

Response from the operator: Hey Mariah, Thanks for the lovely review. It was a pleasure to organise this special trip for you guys. I also enjoyed our conversations and getting to know you. Thanks for appreciating the pics! It's a fun passion of mine and it's always nice to make others happy with it! Kind regards, Julian

    AMAZING!!!

My family and I did the 7-day Arctic Exped trip around Iceland, and it was honestly one of the best travel experiences I've ever had. A huge part of that was our guide, Julian. Julian was incredibly knowledgeable and always had interesting information to share about Iceland's history, geology, culture, and the places we visited. But what really made the trip special was who he was as a person. He was funny, easygoing, and made everyone feel comfortable from day one. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does, and that energy made the whole trip so much more enjoyable. Beyond being a great guide, it was honestly just fun getting to know him throughout the week. He helped create such a positive group atmosphere, and I came away with amazing memories, new friends, and a much deeper appreciation for Iceland. I can't recommend this tour enough.

Response from the operator: Hey Meaghan! Thank you so much for your kind words. It was really nice to get to know you as well! You were really nice to hang out with. Hope your trip to Spain went well as well. All the best, Julian

Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Reykjavik.

How much does Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure cost?

    +

Prices start at $1900 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Reykjavik usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure take?

    +

Plan for about 8.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Reykjavik is not rushed.

Is Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Reykjavik, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Reykjavik can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Reykjavik and add a light layer if any part of the 8.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Kerlingarfjoll Highlands Adventure start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Reykjavik within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Reykjavik?

    +

On Outty we rank every Reykjavik experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Reykjavik Food Walk - Local Foodie Adventure in Iceland, Small-Group Golden Circle, Blue Lagoon with Ticket & Kerid Crater, Reykjavík Small group Walking Tour - by CityWalk. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Reykjavik?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Reykjavik?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
