About this experience
Our tours are lead by a small local family owned business with over 20 years of experience in the field. This is not your ordinary tour. We crafted this experience as if we were going on it. We believe in quality over quantity, and we want to deliver more than what you dreamed of. Make sure to let us know if you want to customize your experience. Our tours support small Kauai owned businesses. Our excursion visits several lookouts at the famous mini Grand Canyon of the Pacific, the powerful Spouting horn, the breathtaking Kalalau Valley lookout (weather permitting), and charming Hanapepe town. Enjoy freshly made treats at a local bakery (optional), and locally sourced lunch up in the mountain. Take the day off from driving and see Kauai through local eyes. We offer free hotel (south and east only), airport, and harbor pick up and drop off. Guests coming from the north meet us in Kapaa in a central location TBA. Contact us direct if your party is larger than 5.

What you'll see and do
Spouting Horn
Our day begins with a visit to the Spouting horn in Poipu. This stunning natural beauty is the product of a now extinct volcano; a water blow hole that can reach heights up to 20 feet. Experience the power of nature as the water spouts like a geyser. On our way out of Poipu, we will drive through the famous Tree tunnel.
20 minutes here
Hanapepe Valley Lookout
This beautiful verdant valley is the perfect preamble to the Waimea Canyon. It is partially owned by the Robinson family and the home of Jurassic falls. We will stop here for about 5-10 minutes to take pictures.
10 minutes here
Waimea Canyon State Park
Waimea Canyon State Park is one of Kauai's natural wonders, known as the mini Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Marvel at this geological gem from various lookouts as we ascend the mountain to about 3800' in elevation. We will get out of the van in various locations for amazing picture ops. Majestic beauty at its finest!
90 minutes here · Admission included
Koke'e State Park
We will continue to ascend the mountain past the Waimea Canyon State Park to explore the high forest of Kokee. Here you will visit the breathtaking Kalalau Valley lookout (weather permitting) the largest valley of the famous Napali coast. We will also stop for lunch at the Kokee Lodge, originally built in the 1930s as a hunting lodge, now a restaurant serving tasty food made with locally sourced ingredients. Note: We only take groups of up to 6 people to the Kalalu Valley lookout because the roads are not optimal or safe for our larger vehicle.
105 minutes here · Admission included
Hanapepe
Last on our journey is a visit to the charming and historic town of Hanapepe. Step back in time and take a walk across the famous swinging bridge, built in 1912. This is a good town to seat down and watch people go by while enjoying some fresh squeezed lemonade, and/or shop for some wonderful souvenirs made in the state and by local artisans. For Disney lovers, this is the town that inspired the original film Lilo & Stich.

A tour company with SOUL
Coco Maria was super fun and friendly. She has an awesome vibe and sense of humor, which made our day even more fantastic. We saw lots of great sights and had a full day of exploring. She had a few hidden treats up her sleeve and we really appreciated her knowledge and planning ahead that she had done. Highly recommend them!

Kauai Island Private tour
We did a private tour today on Kauai. We had a great guide, Shasta, that gave us a great, fun tour and had amazing knowledge of the area. We went to the Spouting Horn, Hanapepe Valley Lookout and the small town, stopped at a little bakery to try their donuts. Waimea Canyon State Park, (they call it the little Grand Canyon) Koke’s State Park but the cloud cover was unfortunately too much to see anything, and after lunch we drove through where Jurassic Park and the first Indiana Jones were filmed. Great day with amazing views. We were able to customize the trip and Shasta was very accommodating in what we wanted to see. We would highly recommend Kauai Soul Travel and Shasta.
Response from the operator: Mahalo! Thanks for being such an amazing group! You brought the spirit that makes these tours special—I’ll remember this one!

Definitely Choose This Tour Company for Seeing Kauai
Shasta is very sweet, kind and funny. She took us patiently to all the scheduled stops, identified important spots to take photos and took nice photographs. She gave very interesting insights and detailed stories about Hawaii and Kauai’s history, people, language and its culture. She engaged the kids very well and took us to interesting places for snacks and lunch. We had a wonderful tour of Spouting Horn, multiple stops in Waimea Canyon, Hanapepe Town and a local bakery. The weather was beautiful! We enjoyed the trip a lot! We highly recommend this tour.
Response from the operator: Mahalo! We loved spending the day with you and are so happy you enjoyed the journey. Kauai Soul Travel is about connection, and you are now part of our ‘ohana.

One of the best tours I’ve been on!
This was an amazing tour with an amazing tour guide! The tour is run by a small family owned tour company, and they were so attentive and communicative. I highly recommend using Kauai Soul Travel to see the island, get recommendations for things to do around the island, and to learn about the beautiful island of Kauai. The weather wasn’t great for seeing the canyon, but adaptions were made to the schedule to get the most out of our time.
Response from the operator: Mahalo Vanessa! It was wonderful to have you join our tour. Your presence brought even more light and joy to the experience. Until next time, aloha!

Why this scores 74
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.
How much does Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon cost?
+
Prices start at $315 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon take?
+
Plan for about 6.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.
Is Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 74 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 46 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon?
+
Around 16 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 6.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Kauai Highlights- Featuring Waimea Canyon start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Kauai?
+
Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Kauai?
+
April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Kauai?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
