    Great tour worth the money!

A great introduction to Kauai, its history, geography, its culture and customs. John is a very confident and safe driver and known by locals wherever he goes. He will show you places and things that only the locals know about - things that can’t be found in the guide books or in Shaka itineraries. He is not of Hawaiian ancestry, but he was born and raised in Hawaii and has raised his children here. Very knowledgeable and will customize your trip around the kinds of things you enjoy seeing and doing.

Response from the operator: Mahalo Melody and Richard for your kind words and wonderful review! We are so glad we were able to change the date and you got to enjoy the beautiful weather on your tour! Happy New Year & Aloha :)

    Not to be missed.

A comprehensive tour and history of Kauai. John was amazing. He has lived on the island for over 40 years and has great insight into the culture, the topography, and the history. He hit all the spots along the way for amazing photos - and food!

Response from the operator: Mahalo Tom for your excellent review and sharing your experience! It was a great pleasure having your group this New Years Day on Kauai. Have fun on Maui and come back again soon! Aloha & Happy New Year :)

    Beautiful tour!

This was an amazing day. John has extensive knowledge of the island and shared so much interesting information with us. He was very professional and kind and showed us more of the island than we ever expected to see. John, we can't thank you enough for driving all the way to the end of the road in the north shore. Being able to see tunnels beach & the dry cave was a dream! And we will never forget the walk on the beach shown in the gilligan's island pilot. And thank you so much for pointing out all of the noteworthy properties. Everything was so interesting and unlike anything we've seen. We appreciate you customizing the tour and spending extra time with us, and because you told us how to arrange a ride for the next morning for our napali coast boat tour at the cruise port and stopped there, we were able to enjoy that tour without worry. We really appreciate your kindness and the value you offered for all we were able to see. It was spectacular to be able to see the wettest spot on our earth and the beauty of the Hindu monastery, so definitely keep that one! If I could add one thing, it would be very quick time to swim maybe at hanalei bay...just something to consider. But I also realize you wouldn't be able to see as much and it might be difficult to get wet and then go to another stop, so we loved the tour as it was. We would love to take the Waimea canyon tour with you next time we're in town and would definitely recommend this to anyone! This wasn't your average tour.

Response from the operator: Big Mahalo Kelly for your wonderful review and recommendations! We are so happy you and Theresa enjoyed your North Shore Adventure with John and we couldn't ask for better weather. Looking forward to your return on Kauai and showing you the Waimea Canyon and the South Shore. Best wishes & Aloha : )

Private Kauai North Shore Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.

How much does Private Kauai North Shore Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $360 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Kauai North Shore Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.

Is Private Kauai North Shore Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 72 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Kauai North Shore Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Kauai North Shore Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Kauai North Shore Tour?

    +

Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Kauai North Shore Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kauai?

    +

Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kauai?

    +

April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kauai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
