Great Guide & Drivers, Avoid the Express Train Option

This Viator Jaipur tour had excellent local service but significant issues with the train component. **The Outstanding:** Our drivers Mr. Habibi (Delhi) and Akhtar Ali (Jaipur) were exceptional - extremely punctual, safe, and professional. The clean SUVs made transportation comfortable. Our guide Vijay Gupta was truly outstanding - more historian than typical guide. His extensive knowledge of maharajas, palace construction, and Rajput history brought every site to life. He recommended an excellent restaurant and provided thorough museum tours. **Organization:** The organizer Arjun was very responsive from booking through completion. He handled train reservations efficiently, checked constantly that drivers/guides were punctual, and provided reliable contact support throughout. **The Disappointing:** The "express" train was terrible. Despite advertising dinner and breakfast included, the food is unsafe for Westerners due to dirty plates. Seats are extremely uncomfortable and overcrowded. The air conditioning is so strong you'll need jackets/shawls - unexpected in hot Rajasthan. Expect loud families with children making it a long, arduous journey. **The Cultural Experience:** Despite the train's discomfort, experiencing a busy Indian train station during peak times was quite impressive and culturally enlightening. **Sales Pressure:** Be prepared for stops at jewelry stores and textile factories. We declined the jeweler but I bought an overpriced "Kashmir wool" blanket due to the freezing train. **Note:** They're very pushy about reviews - expect calls the day after asking why your review isn't online yet. **Bottom Line:** Excellent local team and organization, but avoid the train option if possible.

Well organised Day Tour but long train journeys

It was very difficult to organise train tickets yourself online so I went with Viator. Agra Trip (the tour company) got in touch promptly with travel arrangements. Everything from drivers in Delhi and Jaipur to train ticket booking was well-organised and they were quick in responding to enquiries via WhatsApp. I like the on-time pick-up and you get delivered to your seat, which is essential in India (esp. for solo woman travellers). The rather rudimentary guided tour only consists of three sights: Amber Fort, City Palace and Observatory. The Pink City was a "drive-by" and the Water & Wind Palaces are only 'stop and take picture' jobs. Ask to skip the long shopping breaks (which local guides do for a commission) to concentrate on the sights. The advertised elephant ride didn't happen. I was only told on the day that it finishes at 11am. Why is it even in the itinerary when they know that the train doesn't arrive much before that? Given this is one of the most famous and unique features of Jaipur tours, failure to deliver this essential part should be a cause for partial refund. My return train was delayed by 1hr45m. Agra Trip did not have any contingency plans. Rather than sharing the cost, I was told to pay for a car if I wanted alternative transport (to Delhi and for the guide to return to Jaipur for safety reasons). I took the train in the end but at least the Delhi driver waited so I was driven home safely.

Response from the operator: Dear Mam Thanks for your valuable review and you know after you booking this tour we contact with in 5 minute and send you train ticket and other information.now related elephant ride as you mentioned not provide please check and you also received that our inclusion information we not provide elephant ride in inclusion and if we do but train reach late Jaipur and time is over.now related train late that is train engine technical fault and its happened some time and we also arranged by car Jaipur to Delhi but we suggest wait some time after problem resolved train ready and you reach safely and my driver wait last 2 hours for you..Sorry for train technical problem but that is not our hands its happened some time. Thanks & Regards Agra Trip Team

    Very nice day in Jaipur

I received the travel information (Car Nr., Driver Name, Driver contact Nr.) before the trip from the tour organizer. Additionally, I have got the train tickets (from Delhi to Jaipur and from Jaipur to Delhi) as PDF Document. It was not necessary to print out the tickets. Only my name was asked. The driver picked me up from Hotel on time. In Jaipur the local driver was waiting for me at outside at the railway station exit. The driver and the guide in Jaipur were very helpful. The tour guide explained everything very well in English. I got a lot of background information and historical facts. The tour guide made very good photos. I was concerned in Delhi at the railway station because we had not been told where the driver would be picking me up. However, the tour organizer and driver called me, and I had the phone number of the driver. At the end, the driver has found me. The exact pick-up point in Delhi should be exactly fixed. It was long, but a very nice day in Jaipur.

Response from the operator: Dear Sir, Thank you for your wonderful review. I am happy to know that you are happy with my company's tour arrangements and services.

The driver picked us up at the hotel...

The driver picked us up at the hotel promptly. He delivered us to our seats on the train, which helped greatly since the train station was unfamiliar to us. In Jaipur, the local guide was not waiting for us on the platform, and we didn't know what to do, so we waited. Shortly thereafter, he rushed up and said he had been waiting outside. Once connected, he was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his detailed information, and the various stops he and the driver made. At the end of the day I was concerned because he wasn't sure whën our train was leaving, and my phone battery was running low. He took us to the train, and was willing to escort us to our seats, although he said it was not part of his job. On the way back to Delhi, I was very concerned because we had not been told where the driver would be picking us up. As it turned out, he was waiting on the platform at the exact stop where we disembarked from the train. I think Viator, should have told us exactly where the drivers were going to pick us up. Carrying a sign with our names on it, would have been reassuring.

What should I bring or wear?

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit New Delhi?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in New Delhi?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
