Day trip to Monumento Nacional El Morado
I would highly recommend Matias and Andes Explora if you want to escape from Santiago for a day or for a few days. Clearly the travel industry has been through a tough time and it is difficult to find responsive, reliable companies in Santiago. The trip was well organised, Matias was very responsive and it was a real education on the flora, fauna and geology of the region. On top of that there is a real understanding of the environment and a tree was planted in our name in a native forest after the trip which was a touch we really appreciated. As things slowly get back to normal and tourists return to see the beauty of Chile I would recommend using Andes Explora.
Response from the operator: Thanks for your kindly review Andrew! We are glad you had a great experience and we hope to see you soon in new trips with us! Matías

National Monument - El Morado day trek. Amazing!
The National Monument El Morado day trek was amazing! I did it in early April and had a wonderful time. Awe-inspiring views towards the peak and glacier that just keep getting better and better as they get closer. We had a blue sky day which couldn't have been better. Rodrigo was a great guide and I needn't have been concerned about the level of difficulty. It's certainly a full day (we were on the trek for 6 1/2 hours, including plenty stops and a good picnic) so not suitable for someone who's not accustomed to walking, but the path was good. It's steeper at the beginning but does level out and the valley is beautiful. Rodrigo said the walk is one of his favourites because it's greener than some at slightly higher altitudes. He was also good at pointing out birds and other wildlife. I would love to get back to Chile and would happily do another trek with Andesexplora.
Response from the operator: Hi Susan, we loved your review!. Thanks to share this experience with other people and recommend us! We work to give a deep contact with nature and take people back to simple life and adventure for some hours. We are glad you had a great experience and we hope to see you soon in new trips with us! Beautiful! And in the end, the prize!
We arrived in a 4x4 at the start of the road. We enjoyed an intense hike with beautiful landscapes until we reached a lagoon with a hanging glacier. The prize after 2 1/2 hours, was to reach this lagoon with portions of glacier in the water and the view of several mountains in which other glaciers could be observed. Along the way we could see condors, goats and horses on the loose. Our guide Rodrigo, always friendly and attentive that we were okay. Very patient with my lack of training and waited for me how many times I needed! When we reach the lagoon, we rest and enjoy some delicious sandwiches, with snacks and fruit, and then embark on the descent. The descent was faster. And then, a well-deserved rest in the 4x4 until you reach the hotel in Santiago. I'd do it again.
Response from the operator: Muchas gracias por compartir este comentario! Matias

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Santiago.
How much does Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral cost?
+
Prices start at $251 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Santiago usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Santiago is not rushed.
Is Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Santiago, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Santiago can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Santiago and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Hiking Trip to El Morado Hanging Glacier from Santiago, Carbon Neutral start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Santiago within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Santiago?
+
On Outty we rank every Santiago experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Maipo Valley Wine Region: 4 Wineries, Tastings & Foodie Tour, Valparaiso Port and Viña del Mar with Casablanca Wine Tasting, Tour to Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Pablo Neruda Museum and Vineyard. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Santiago?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Santiago?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
