Excellent Hiking Experiences with Epic Journey Mexico
We did two hikes with Epic Journey (Desierto de los Leones and Iztaccíhuatl) and had an excellent experience. Communication was clear and helpful, with good details on timing and safety. Our guide Richard was punctual, a very safe driver (even on rough roads), and set a comfortable pace for the high altitude. He was friendly, provided water and snacks, and made us feel safe throughout. Highly recommend this company for a well-organized and safe hiking experience.

Not welcoming and no communication
— The overall experience with guides was not good. They were not welcoming on arrival. They did not tell us anything about the volcano or area. They did not tell us ANY details on the hike, to the point that after lunch we thought we were continuing up but we just turned around. We basically just walked to a parking lot where people normally start the hike
Response from the operator: Hola!

What a fantastic experience!
We wanted to experience the mountains on our trip to Mexico, and booked this to hike up on the last day of the year, and what an awesome experience that turned out to be. The trip to Iztaccihuatl from Mexico City and back was super smooth and easy. I do not think the hike could have gone any better; we had an awesome guide, and the mountains graciously accepted us that day. What more could I ask for? Except it was more than just a guided hike with Rubén. It was educational, enlightening, and full of great conversations. Perhaps if only Rubén could make the clouds disappear at the top so that we could get a better view of the scenery, then it would have been absolutely perfect, but I might be asking for too much then. Thanks to his timely stops and breaks, we did get plenty of beautiful views as we ascended.
Response from the operator: Hello, thank you very much for your comment. It helps us to improve. We are very happy that you enjoyed your tour with Ruben . We hope to meet you again in your next visit to Mexico city. Hugs from México!

Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Mexico City.
How much does Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city cost?
+
Prices start at $2145 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Mexico City usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city take?
+
Plan for about 9.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Mexico City is not rushed.
Is Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 15 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Mexico City, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city?
+
Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Mexico City can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Mexico City and add a light layer if any part of the 9.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Hike Iztaccihuatl volcano at 14800 ft. from Mexico city start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Mexico City within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Mexico City?
+
On Outty we rank every Mexico City experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Frida Kahlo VIP [Museum Tickets Included] Walk, Markets & Churros, Local Foodie Adventure CDMX: Tacos & more with Sherpa Food Tours, Mexico City Historical Centre Food Tour with 7 Tastings & Drinks. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Mexico City?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Mexico City?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
