About this experience

The island’s size works in your favour in this postcard-perfect full day tour of Malta. You’ll walk along the same narrow streets as the Knights of St John, take in the sights and smells of Malta’s most famous fishing village ‘Marsaxlokk’ and gaze in awe as you step into the island’s most ancient temples, dating back over 5,000 years. Enjoy the stunning views from Dingli Cliffs, tuck into a feast for your taste-buds with local ‘pastizzi’, before quietly wandering through the silent city of Mdina, with its jaw-dropping views of Malta. You’ll end your day the way the locals do, with delicate sand playing between your toes and the stresses of the day ebbing away. We cover the best of Malta in this full day tour, however if you’d like a more customised or specific themed experience of the country, just let us know. We’re happy to help.

You are just a number

My previous attempt to share this review has been deleted by Tripadvisor and I have been advised to re-submit after making edits to comply with Tripadvisor's "policy about Promotional or Commercial Content". I have read the policy and do not see how my original post may have violated it. My review does not promote any of my products or services. The website link included in my review is managed by the European Commission to provide information to travellers about Covid-related travel restrictions and requirements in the European Union countries and as such is most relevant and helpful to travellers and not at all promotional in nature, and as such it is allowed by the policy. The post does not include advertisements, solicitations, or website links with referrer tags or affiliate codes. In other words, the original text fully complies with Tripadvisor's Promotional or Commercial Content policy and has been removed by Tripadvisor without just cause and, having no viable option to communicate with Tripadvisor about this issue, I am re-posting the original text of my review again, prepended with this explanatory paragraph for the benefit of Tripadvisor staff. We have booked and paid $650 on April 18 for this private, full-day, free-cancellation tour scheduled for April 23. We were traveling to Malta on April 22, departing from Croatia in the afternoon, with transfer through Germany. We have a valid EU Digital Covid Vaccine certificate, having been fully vaccinated with the single-dose Janssen vaccine approved by the European Union. We have checked reopen.europa.eu for Covid travel restrictions and have confirmed that both Germany and Malta allow entry to travellers who have been vaccinated with EU approved vaccines. To our knowledge, we have done everything that could reasonably be expected to prepare for our trip and we were happily on our way. Unfortunately, we were informed at the airport that Germany now, and as of recently, requires the Janssen vaccine to be supplemented with a booster, or a single shot of another vaccine, and so we were denied boarding. I have contacted the tour operator to advise them of the fact that we are unable to arrive, requesting a refund or rescheduling of the tour for a later date. This was in the late afternoon on April 22. The operator replied the following day (the day of the tour) and told us that she will get back to us on Monday (April 25). On April 25, we have received a follow-up reply from her advising us that she cannot issue a refund "because of the policy of Viator and the expenses for the guide and the transport. This services were organized and pre paid in advance." Let's put this in perspective. The tour was booked during off-season. The tour involves a private guide driving us around Malta in a private vehicle. NO COSTS HAVE BEEN INCURRED. The tour allows free cancellation with at least 24 hours notice. So, technically, yes, the tour operator did not need to refund the money, or offer to reschedule, because we were a few hours late cancelling the booking and so I commend My Maltese Guide for securing such a well-earned profit. Well done!

Response from the operator: Hi Zbigniew, Firstly we are sorry for your bad experience in Germany. However, it seems clear you had issues with your travel documentation, which we of course had nothing to do with us. You also agreed that you cancelled way past the free cancellation deadline, so we are unsure on this attempt to damage our business. Your title reads "you are just a number", but I believe this refers to your experience in the German airport and not with us. We had a very personal 1 to 1 communication with you and all our clients, so you are certainly not just a number with us. To clarify the incorrect assumptions made in this "review", it is not low season here, a guide and executive vehicle were booked and committed to your tour, hence they did not take other business, so full costs were incurred. We suggest you retract this misleading and malicious post. Wishing you a lovely weekend

Beautiful Malta

We booked a full day Malta Loop tour. Malta is a stunning country. It was the second time we have been there and we still fell like we only scratched the surface. Our guide Sylvia was amazing. Her knowledge was endless and her enthusiasm for her job was great. I would highly recommend booking a tour with My Maltese Tour Guide.

Response from the operator: Thank you for such a lovely review! It was our pleasure to take you around and we do hope we will see you again very soon! Have a nice summer, Joanna

Tour of Malta with the enigmatic Nick!

We used this company to do 2 tours - walking tour of Valletta and a full day Malta tour. Both were excellent and planning and booking with Stephen - the owner - was like dealing with a friend. Our day with our guide Nick was particularly informative, entertaining and a wonderful day well spent. No Malta stone was left untouched. We loved it!

Response from the operator: Thank you Suzie for this review. We do believe that part of the experience is not just the tour but everything leading up to it. We hope to see you again, Joanna

Fascinating!

Nick was a fabulous tour guide and I truly appreciated his ability to tell the story of the island and not just comment on each specific site (or sight)! My only suggestion to those considering booking would be to take it at the beginning of your time on Malta to allow you time to return to a favourite spot or something you saw along the way!

Response from the operator: Nick does know how to bring out not only the history but immerse you into it! Thank you for this lovely review, Joanna

Excellent customer service for full day tour of Malta

On the recommendations of friends, we booked a full-day tour of Malta with Stephen and his team. Throughout the process of planning the trip, he was extremely responsive and helped us prepare a well-tailored tour of the island that included all of the top sites. Although the timing ultimately did not work out for us to go, his guidance and recommendations for other activities in Malta ensured that we had a wonderful holiday. I look forward to returning to Malta and will definitely contact My Maltese Guide when I do.

Response from the operator: Hi Rachel, thank you so much for a lovely review. It was a pleasure helping you plan and prepare! We look forward to having you back in the future and please let us know when you do come back to our tiny rock. Have a nice summer, Joanna

Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Valletta.

How much does Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour cost?

+

Prices start at $999 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Valletta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour take?

+

Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Valletta is not rushed.

Is Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 35 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Valletta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour suitable for kids and families?

+

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour?

+

Around 12 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Valletta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Valletta and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Highlights of Malta Full-Day Tour start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Valletta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Valletta?

+

On Outty we rank every Valletta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Valletta Food Tour, The Original Valletta Walking Tour, Valletta Walking Tour, In a Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Valletta?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Valletta?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
