    A great afternoon private tasting

My wife and I met up with Lisa at Neptune’s Fountain and began a wonderful half day tour of Bologna’s old city for a delightful array of food tastings. We tried Balsamic Vinegar, delectable chocolate, Meats and cheeses along with wine, meandered down the road for pasta dishes made to our dietary needs and finished with gelato that dazzled our taste buds. Lisa is a very knowledgeable guide and pleasure to be with with and share her personal background with us. We would highly recommend signing up for the tour.

Response from the operator: Thank you, Stan, for such a lovely review! It is a joy to hear that you and your wife enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with Lisa and that her knowledge and personal stories enriched your time together. One of the advantages of our private tours is the flexibility we have to accommodate specific dietary needs, ensuring that everyone can fully enjoy the experience. The incredible variety of foods our region offers allows us to satisfy almost every palate, and we are glad you found the experience delightful. Thank you for your recommendation, we hope to meet you again in the future. Best regards, Michelle Valeria Costa

    Bologna Food Immersion

We did a half day Bologna Food and Art walking tour and it did not disappoint. Lisa was a talented and learned tour guide. From the start we were energized by her enthusiasm and love of Bologna’s food traditions. The tour began with a tasting of pastries- raviole con la mostarda and rice pudding made at one of the oldest pastry shops in the city. Majani was the next stop where we enjoyed an out of this world tasting of 3 types of chocolates! Lisa explained the history of this chocolate family and how it has grown and endured. Bolognese tortellini and a first hand experience of how it is made along with many other types of pasta followed. We enjoyed a tasting of 3 pasta dishes and a lovely glass of Bolognese white wine. Listening to Lisa impart anecdotes of the importance of tortellini and pasta making and how it bonds families made us fall in love with it even more! As if this wasn’t enough on to an informative and tasty sampling of cold cuts and cheeses and great Sangiovese wine. We concluded our tour with a balsamic vinegar sampling and then a refreshing gelato. We were now a “family “ together at our tasting table with our fabulous Artemilia guide and friend. Kudos to you Artemilia for having the best tours and guides we have ever experienced!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you, Dawne, for your heartwarming words! It is a true joy to hear that you were immediately involved by Lisa’s enthusiasm and deep knowledge of Bologna’s food traditions. We are happy that the hands-on experience with the tortellini and the visit to the different historic shops allowed you to understand not just the food, but the stories and family bonds behind them. We believe that sharing these moments around a tasting table is what transforms a tour into a connection, and we are honored that you felt like part of a family. Thank you for recognizing the passion of our guides! We really hope our paths will cross again in the future. Warm regards, Michelle Valeria Costa

Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bologna.

How much does Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $240 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bologna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bologna is not rushed.

Is Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 53 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable food & drink in Bologna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Half Day Bologna Food and Art Walking Tour?

    +

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bologna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bologna and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Bologna?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Bologna?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
