On route, as well as on location, throughout the day you will learn about the planning and preparations involved to get the largest military operation in history organised, which units were involved, what their objectives were, and how victory was achieved. I will share with you stories of the many men and women who fought to free Europe of Nazi occupation. At each of these site there will be some free time for you to take photos, use restrooms or grab a coffee.

Courseulles-sur-Mer
We will visit the western flank of Juno sector where Canadian forces landed on D-Day. Here you will learn about the planning and preparations by the Canadian 3rd Infantry Division to land elements of the Canadian Scottish and Royal Winnipeg Rifles regiments against one of the best prepared German coastal defences in this area.

Ver-sur-Mer
At this British landing sector on D-Day and see where the men of the 50th Infantry Division were able to break through from an open and exposed beach. It was here that Company Sergeant Major, Stanley Hollis of the 6th Battalion, the Green Howards, landed. We will follow his actions on D-Day which resulted in him receiving the only Victoria Cross, the highest award for bravery in the British Commonwealth.

Here we will see the remains of the artificial harbour, known as Mulberry. This amazing invention became the most important port for the Allied in North-West Europe until December 1944.

Time for reflection at the British War Cemetery, final resting place and memorial for 6452 soldiers of various nationalities, including German.

Pointe du Hoc
On top of 100ft high cliffs, the Germans had established a long-range gun battery. It was the task of US Army Rangers to assault this position, scale the cliffs and destroy the German guns. This site has been preserved as a battlefield and you will be able to go into the many German bunkers, see the hundreds of bomb craters, and of course the cliffs the Rangers scaled.

At the second American sector, Omaha beach, we will visit the part of the beach that was depicted in opening scenes of the film Saving Private Ryan: here is where the heaviest casualties on D-Day were suffered. You will hear about the units involved, learn about how many things can and did go wrong here, but also how initiative, determination and leadership resulted in success.

Cimetiere Americain de Colleville-sur-Mer
The final resting place of 9380 American servicemen and women from the Normandy campaign, located on high ground overlooking the eastern side of Omaha Beach. It covers more than 170 acres and is maintained by the American Battle Monuments Commission. Here you will have the opportunity to pay your respects and witness the lowering of the flags.

A day with Mike we will always remember
We had an amazing private day tour with Mike, a day which we will both remember for a very long time thanks to Mike’s planning and knowledge. From the moment we contacted Mike he was accomodating and helpful as my husband Howard was very specific about what he wanted to see and do. Even when we needed to add something on the actual day, Mike was able to manage to squeeze in an extra stop. Mike was very communicative before the tour, and his wealth and depth of knowledge on the day was appreciated by my WW2 history buff husband as well as me, now a convert to learning more about D day. Thank you so much Mike for a fabulous day!

RUN…DO NOT WALK…to book your tour with Mike. Mike met my wife and I at the Bayeaux train station when we departed the train and right then I knew I had booked the right tour. Mike, was welcoming, engaging and looked the part of a dashing WW2 pilot with his Errol Flynn mustache. He had a very comfortable air conditioned van to drive us around in. We booked the 6 hour tour from Paris starting in Saint-Mere-Eglise. Mike told us the story behind the story of that town and the remarkable church that’s still stands. Mike also was invaluable in helping track down information re where wife’s uncle fought, died and was buried in France during D Day. We then proceed to Point du Hoc, Omaha Brach and Finally the American Cemetery. Through the day and at each point of interest Mike would provide incredible insight into operation Overlord and remarkable stories that occurred during D Day and the days after which you’ve never heard and explains the difference from what we see in Hollywood movies and what accurately occurred. You will not get this level of detail and information from large tour groups or other tour operators. Mike provided a truly personal experience for my wife and I and recommend highly that you book him. You will get no better tour.

If you came to Normandy to truly understand what happened to our GIs on D Day , then splurge on this tour. Mike is an outstanding tour guide. Extremely knowledgeable re: D Day and WWII in general. He's personable, fun and took us to all the sites we wanted to see. Mike wants to please his client, and does that in spades. You will have fun and learn alot, see alot, on his tour. Enjoy!

The best Normandy tour!
We toured with Mike for two days - the American and British tours along with a visit to St. Lo. Mike did a wonderful job and exceeded our expectations for the trip. His knowledge of the events, battles and area are excellent. We highly recommend Mike and his tours. You will not be disappointed.

Truly immersive, and very impressive experience.
We have just had a totally brilliant 3 days with Mike.- we went for the full immersion and booked 3 full day tours of the D-Day beaches. Day 1 we covered US D-Day, day 2 British D-Day and day 3, Canadian D-Day tour. Mike took us from the beaches to sites of interest, following the journey of individuals, and troops not just over D-Day, but over the days that followed D-Day. It was a superb, informative and above all, really entertaining 3 days. The depth of Mike’s knowledge, and evident passion for his subject was truly impressive. We were all there to learn and understand more, but one of our friends turned out to be a complete D-Day geek. Mike rose to the challenge and managed to produce fact after fact, completely satisfying the geek (we had no idea just HOW MUCH she knew, btw she had the BEST holiday EVER!) and still managed to keep us 'normal mortals' fully engaged. Mike has a great rapport, was really easy to get on with and, very important to us, has a great sense of humour. It was also obvious that he was highly respected amongst the other guides, but I’m not surprised, his knowledge seemed limitless! When we booked the Allied Victory Tours, Mike’s website also offers accommodation at the 1930’s/40’s vintage B&B he and his wife run. It is as authentic as it sounds, from decoration and furniture, to crockery and war time music at breakfast! The breakfast was deliciously continental and plentiful, including eggs from their own chickens. And as if this wasn’t enough of an experience, (and it was a totally immersive experience!) they also care for their own war memorial, and their own ‘jaw dropping’ onsite – WW2 Women of Valour – museum. Put aside 3 hours to let Deborah show you round her unbelievable collection! Heads up, they have gorgeous, very friendly, cats & dogs running about, but none are allowed in the property.
