The Best
Exceptional! Max was a wonderful instructor - patient, thorough, encouraging. Our two teenage boys had a great time.
Response from the operator: Aloha, Mahalo for your review and 5 star rating. We're so glad your family had a great time with Max. We'll be sure to pass along your kind words, and we hope to welcome you all back soon!

Great experience
My son had a fantastic time. I did not have the stamina for the paddling to get to the waves. Our group went to bigger waves since all of us were stronger swimmers. This was great for my son. I did get up once or twice with the help of the instructor to get me to the waves but then bailed so as not to hold the others back as I am a bit older. All were able to get up and surf. The instructor remained very positive the entire time.
Response from the operator: Aloha! We are so happy to hear your son had a fantastic time surfing. Surfing is no easy feat—paddling alone gives those arms and shoulders quite the workout! Getting up on the board and catching a wave is an accomplishment to be proud of, so big congratulations to all of you! We're so glad your whole group got to experience the thrill of riding some waves. Hope to see you all back again soon!

Great surf lesson
Great instructor. Very patient and took his time to really help you get the hang of things. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: Aloha Patrice- We are thrilled to hear you had an excellent experience in the water. Please catch some more waves with us sometime in the near future. Mahalo for taking the time to give us a 5 star rating and write your review 🤙

terrible surfing experience
our instructor was not into teaching. he literally told us to paddle harder, didn't give any useful advice other than stand up on the surf board. he was lackadaisical in his attitude and couldnt really muster the energy to show any excitement for what he was doing. he didnt even bother saying goodbye at the end of our time.
Response from the operator: Aloha George- We would like to first and foremost apologize that you had less than an amazing experience on your surf lesson. We will be sure to follow up with the instructor you had that day and review our standard for excellent customer service so this shouldn't happen again. However, please do let us know how we could have made this a 5 star experience for you. Mahalo.

Great staff
The staff and the instructor were great with my two kids. Unfortunately the waves were very small that day but the instructor stayed longer that day to ensure the kids had enough waves to be able to have a great time.
Response from the operator: We are so happy that your kids were still able to have such a great experience catching waves, despite the conditions! We hope to have you back for another lesson! Aloha 🤙

Why this scores 57
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Oahu.
How much does Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal cost?
+
Prices start at $101 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Oahu usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal take?
+
Plan for about 1 hour from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Oahu is not rushed.
Is Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 57 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Oahu, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 1-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Oahu can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Oahu and add a light layer if any part of the 1-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Group Surf Lesson for 4 by Waikiki Beachboys at the Royal start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Oahu within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Oahu?
+
On Outty we rank every Oahu experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Oahu: Full or Half Day Grand Circle Island Tour, Oahu Small-Group Circle Island Tour with Turtle Snorkeling, Pearl Harbor Remembered Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Oahu?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Oahu?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
