Beginner mountain biking for road cyclists near Moab.

Really fun and somewhat challenging mountain biking experience outside of Moab, Utah. I had done some mountain biking years ago, my wife is a novice. We both do quite a bit of road cycling at home, so bike fitness was not such of an issue. Despite our older ages, we couldn’t pass up trying mountain biking in the Mecca of Moab. Our guide, Kristen, was very friendly and explained the basics of riding the bikes over uneven terrain. She took us on beginner trails that were perfect for our skill level. The red rock desert scenery was a beautiful backdrop for our cycling adventure.

    Fun new challenge

My husband and I chose the half day mountain biking tour. Kristen was our guide, and she was great. We’re in our sixties. He mountain bikes, but I only rode bike. Kristen gave me a primer on the bike and on some technique, and we were off. I felt good after about 10 minutes and had a great time. I stopped before the terrain became too challenging, but my husband continued for another 30 minutes. He loved it!!! We’re really happy with our choice of Bighorn Mountain Biking.

Tour ignited our excitement for mountain biking

My husband and I tried mountain biking for the first time through a half day private tour with Bighorn Mountain Biking. It was a fantastic experience! We met the guides at the trailhead in Dead Horse State Park. Our guides, Kristin and Noah, did a great job of explaining the best way to leverage both the functions of the bike and position of our bodies on both inclines and descents to be successful and not put strain on our knees, arms and butts. Trail had just enough challenge to test out our new skills on a variety of terrain and keep it fun but not be too overwhelming. Stopped along the way to take in some epic views. Highly recommend Bighorn Mountain Biking if you are new or fairly new to mountain biking and want to be challenged and have a great time!

    Noah was excellent for...

Noah was excellent for mostly beginners and an intermediate. The first ride was a huge adjustment for our beginners learning the bikes and gearing and everything else. But, they endured and had a good time overall. For 3 of us, we stayed on and did a harder trail and had a blast working through some more challenging features. Never felt scared or dangerous... but, it isn't a ride in the park. Noah even taught me a few skills to practice at home.

Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Moab.

How much does Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour cost?

    +

Prices start at $159 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Moab usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Moab is not rushed.

Is Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 18 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Moab, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Moab can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Moab and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Group Half-Day Moab Brand Trails Guided Mountain Biking Tour start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Moab within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Moab?

    +

Moab is the gateway to Arches and Canyonlands: sunrise arch tours, 4x4 runs on Hell's Revenge, Colorado River rafting, canyoneering and dark-sky stargazing. Park entry timing systems change often, so we weight tours that handle reservations for you. On Outty we rank every Moab experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include HIGHLY RATED U-DRIVE Moab Hell’s Revenge UTV Off-Road Adventure, BEST! Hell's Revenge U-Drive 4X4 Tour in Moab +Dinosaur Tracks!, 5-STAR Moab Hell's Revenge UTV U-DRIVE TOUR + DINO TRACKS. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Moab?

    +

April to May and September to October, avoiding peak summer heat. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Moab?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
