Virgin Beach stretches for about 700 metres around an attractive turquoise cove bookended with rocky cliffs and fringed with tropical forest. The not-so-white sand is fine and squeaky and a joy to walk on. Out to sea, on the southern end of the beach, Pulau Kuan sits whale-like on the horizon. There has been a fair bit of development here over the years, but Virgin Beach hasn’t lost its charm — what was once a truly virgin beach now is home to a small village of beach warungs, each with a bunch of deck chairs and umbrellas to entice you to linger — but who needs enticing? With fresh fish and cold beer, the only difficulty is choosing which one.

Incredible experience with a great guide!
I had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. All of the destinations were incredible, with the perfect balance between seeing the must-visit tourist sights and experiencing the local culture. My guide and driver, Wijaya, was fantastic. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated how kind, friendly and thoughtful he was throughout the trip. went above and beyond to help take photos of me along the way, which made such a difference when travelling alone! I always felt comfortable, relaxed and well looked after. Thank you for making my trip so special!

Shocked
Hugely disappointed.!! Our guide didn’t provide any type of official documentation to identify herself , no knowledge, no interest or understanding of the history of where we were going or what we were seeing. We were advised against seeing the gate of heaven because of a three hour wait time . Fortunately we put our foot down and went through in around 20 minutes. My understanding is that a travel Guide is Bali is required to be registered with an official license. I don’t know who the hell this person was today but I’d strongly advise you to investigate further. A partial or full refund would be appreciated.
Response from the operator: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, though we are truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience. We completely agree with you that a professional guide should be licensed, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing Bali's history. We sincerely apologize that your guide fell short of these basic standards. To address your concerns and provide some context: The entrance and guide system at the Gates of Heaven (Pura Lempuyang) is uniquely managed directly by the local village community (desa adat) in that specific area, rather than through central tour agencies. While these local managers are officially recognized by the village to oversee the site, we realize that the individual assigned to you did not provide the level of professional, licensed service you expected and deserved. We are addressing this specific feedback with the local management team there. We are also very glad you insisted on proceeding to the gate. Unfortunately, it is a common misconception at this site that the wait is three hours. While it can be during peak national holidays, the actual wait is often much shorter—as you experienced at just 20 minutes. It is disheartening if your guide used this as an excuse to avoid doing their job.

Wonderful trip to East Bali from Ubud
We did a tour of East Bali for a full day with driver Raj. It was a wonderful experience. We visited first a traditional Balinese village in the jungle, then headed to the waterpalace. Afterwards we visited the Gate to the Heaven, visited a Coffee plantation before heading to Virgin Beach. On all the points we had sufficient time to visit and enjoy ! Raj gave us a good explanation on all the sites we visited and managed the fast and efficiënt entry to all the sites. He drives you very safely through the hectic traffic in Bali. We had a wonderful time with our guide Raj.

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Seminyak.
How much does Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip cost?
+
Prices start at $65 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Seminyak usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Seminyak is not rushed.
Is Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 69 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Seminyak, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 2. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 9-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip?
+
Around 24 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Seminyak can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Seminyak and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Full-Day Tour: The Gate of Heaven and East Bali Trip start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Seminyak within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Seminyak?
+
On Outty we rank every Seminyak experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Best of Bali Waterfalls: Tibumana, Tukad Cepung and Tegenungan, Bali Instagram Tour: The Most Scenic Spots, Ubud Hot Springs and Waterfall Private Guided Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Seminyak?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Seminyak?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
