A unique experience visiting and getting to know the jewel of Spanish-Muslim architecture in the West, the Alhambra, at the hands of a professional official guide who knows how to read the Alhambra through the poetry and Arabic inscriptions that cover the walls of the Nasrid palaces and through which they tell us the history of the monument. visit the gardens and orchards of the sultans as well as their summer palace El Generalife. On the tour we visit the Generalife palace and gardens. This is the rest area for the Nasrid sultans. There we will learn about the irrigation system used by the Nasrid sultans and what they did to bring water from the Darro River to the Generalife. We will enjoy the oldest garden palace in Europe.

Palace of Carlos V
After visiting the Generalife Palace and Gardens, we will pass through the Medina, which is the place where the workers lived and where they had their jobs to serve the court. We later arrive at the palace of Emperor Charles V, there we will visit this jewel of the Spanish Renaissance in the palatine city of the Alhambra.

We also visited the most important area of the Alhambra, the royal house or the Nasrid palaces. There are three palaces that have different uses. The Mexuar palace, the Comares palace and finally the famous palace of the lions.

Amazing tour
Initially Sharif was supposed to take us on the tour but an emergency came up and his colleague Ahmed came instead. He was amazing from start to finish. We learned so much on the tour and he was so patient with us especially having a toddler with us. We were able to tour alhamra and our breaths were taken away at the beautiful sight. I want to thank them for this amazing experience and let’s not forget sharif made reservations for a van to pick us up from Granada to Malaga. They are a one stop shop and can be trusted. Thank you Sharif and Ahmed for this wonderful experience:)

Fantastic guide, very well organised, but 30 mins shorter than advertised
A mixed experience. Tarek, our guide, was absolutely fantastic, flexible to our needs (spending more time on the Nasrid Palaces, and talking about the ruined medina, generally focusing on history), His focus on the history of the buildings was fantastic, for example, he didn't get caught up in any stories of the catholic kings supposed 'moral righteousness' (as a few other tour guides I overheard were). The organisation was also great, met them just before the agreed time at the meeting point, and our tickets were ready for us. A great option if you didn't book far enough in advance. What was bad? The length of time, the experience is clearly advertised in multiple places as 3 hours, 3 hours of guided tour. However, Tarek had only been paid for 2.5 hours (2.5 excellent hours!), so left after that. When I contacted Qalahorra tours, they basically told me to suck it up, and that this is the way it is.

(You can validate this info in other products from other providers in viator). This is simply for organising reasons because the Alhambra during high season with last minute reservations or when no tickets are available we dont have the privilege to choose the time to enter to the Nasrid palaces. And sometimes we are forced to change the schedule to adapt it to the entry time to the nasrid palaces. And based on the experience and the fact that the majority of our customers come to visit Alhambra from another cities, counting the time also in order to catch back the bus or the train so we need to have more flexibility to be able to adapt the tour to the admission time of the nasrid palaces. So we need from them to dedicate 3 hours maximum to visit the monument and so that they can organise their bus or train reservation too. The Alhambra a monument from the 13th century, sometimes it closes some parts to the touristic visit to do some preservation works and also that happened in the Alcazaba part. As they closed the visitable tower in a guided tour (torre de las armas) provisionally for preservation works. (You can find official announcement about a provisional closure to this part) And sometimes when it rains also they close the upper gardens and the court of the lions for safety reasons. (This is something we can’t do anything about). And this happens in every monument in the world.(each monument have their own protocol and policy when it comes to safety or preservation works that they can adapt, change or cancel some parts in the touristic visit) We are happy that you enjoyed the visit to the nasrid palaces, with the court of the lions, the gardens, the generalife, the palace of charles V with such an expert guide like tarek.
