The House of the Virgin Mary
Fist stop is The House of Virgin Mary is located on the Aladag Mountains 5 miles away from Ephesus. At the third Ecumenical Council on 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary came to Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her death in 48 A.D. After the discovery of the house, the Archbishop of Izmir declared there as a place of pilgrimage in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited this place and prayed there. Than 10 min drive to Ephesus upper gate.

We will start visiting one of the main highlights in Turkey, Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on the western coast of Asia Minor) is located near Izmir. As a port city it was a major departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor. Walk through history along marble streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus; it was built in the beginning of the 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila to be a memorial to his father Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of Province of Asia. , the Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of the most impressive buildings in Ephesus. Grand theatre was built in 3rd century B.C and it was later expanded to 24.000 spectators by the Romans in the 1st century A.D.

A fantastic day. Our guide and driver were great. Our tour guide had great knowledge of sites and locality. She was able to give an in depth explanation in a meaningful way. Excellent interpersonal skills. Thoroughly recommend this tour.

Fabulous Tour to Ephesus by Kusadasi Private Tours
Excellent private tour. Our guide, Emre, was incredibly knowledgable and gave us a fantastic day in Kusadasi. We learnt about history, art, culture and much more. We are well traveled and have high standards, and we were very happy with our tour guide - he was great and spoke excellent English. He was also very accommodating. In addition to the Ephesus, Virgin Mary House, & Artemis Temple tour, he took us to a family owned Ceramic store and to a leather store we were treated to a private fashion show and later taken back to the store and treated like royalty as we tried on different leather jackets and looked at the beautiful handbags, wallets and more. We got a great deal on our purchases thanks to Emre! Of all the locations on our cruise, this one was probably the most surprising in a positive way. We hope to one day return to Turkey! It was time and money well invested.

A trip that exceeded all my expectations thanks to the wonderful guide Mrs. Nilgün, who fulfilled all our wishes and desires, creating unforgettable memories for us. Extremely knowledgeable, she managed to convey to us the rich history of Ephesus in a very informative but at the same time entertaining way. Also she brought us closer the rich culture, life and customs of the Turkish people and we had the opportunity to see the entire process of creating famous Turkish carpets and enjoy the authentic flavors of Turkish home cooking and the local host. A wonderful experience that I would like to wish for everyone. The best trip ever!!!!
