A Wonderful Madeira One Day Trip
Antonio was an amazing guide—friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about Madeira. He shared interesting information throughout the tour and made the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. The views were absolutely spectacular and beyond anything we expected. We had a fantastic day exploring the island and would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Madeira. Thank you, Antonio, for an unforgettable experience!

Great Adventure
We had an unforgettable day with Antonio. We had already taken the "West Tour" with him during a cruise back in March and were so pleased that we really wanted to go on another excursion with him. Since we had already visited several places using our rental car, Antonio created a custom tour for us featuring a sunrise, viewpoints, walks, and a fantastic off-road adventure. He was also great at addressing all our questions and requests, and was incredibly accommodating throughout. Highly recommended for a perfect holiday. We would love to come back. Rebecca

Incredible day exploring Madeira's cultural roots and dramatic landscapes!
Our family of 3 had an absolutely flawless experience on the East Coast Tour. We booked all 3 tours with Antonio are all of them were perfect for us. The East coast tour offers a completely different, yet equally mesmerising vibe compared to the west side of the island. The itinerary was packed with diverse highlights that kept everyone in the family engaged all day and my daughter especially loved the off-road Jeep experience! From seeing the dramatic, rugged coastline to the perfect mix of green valleys and ocean views gave us the experience we were so looking forward to. The highlight of our day was experiencing a traditional espetada lunch which Antonio kindly booked ahead for us. Antonio was a fantastic storyteller, sharing local history and keeping the drive safe and comfortable along the mountain roads. Having hotel pickup and drop-off made the day completely stress-free for us. This tour is a gold standard for families wanting to experience the heart of Madeira!

Another "OUTSTANDING" private tour with Antonio!!!
We had such an outstanding "private tour" experience with Antonio for a West Tour days ago so we booked another "private tour" for the East Tour with him....and we're so happy we did! Antonio knows so much about the island and makes each route to the next stop fun and educational. You can ask him anything about history, culture, etc... He b loves questions! With a private tour Antonio has more flexibility to stagger timing so each stop so it never felt grouped together with so many other tours at popular locations. As we were driving down a narrow street Antonio stopped to say hello to a couple in Portuguese and the next thing we knew they welcomed us into their winemaking lagar that has been handed down by generations. They showed us where they make their homemade Madeira wine. We tasted the wine and it was delish! The people were so welcoming and filled with warmth and pride. This all happened because of Antonio. Cheers to another off-the-hook fabulous tour twice in one week. We now feel like we've really seen the entire island inside and out and now have a friend in Antonio... Obrigada! PS I recommend that people book both the West and East tours to really embrace the entire island of Madeira.

Wonderfull day
It was a day full of beautiful must see places. The guide is very experienced and with a lot of knowledge about Madeira. We experienced the autentic Madeira, not only the turistic places.

Why this scores 54
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Funchal.
How much does Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco cost?
+
Prices start at $300 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Funchal usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Funchal is not rushed.
Is Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 54 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Funchal, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Funchal can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Funchal and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private East True Mountains to Santana and Ponta de Sao Lorenco start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Funchal within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Funchal?
+
On Outty we rank every Funchal experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Jeep Tour Amazing West to Natural Pools -Full-Day, Porto Moniz, Seixal, Fanal Forest, Cliff Skywalk in Open Roof 4X4, West Tour-Fanal Forest & Porto Moniz Natural Pools Small Groups. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Funchal?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Funchal?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
