    Such a fun experience!

Dustin was awesome! He was so knowledgeable about the marine life and the boats in the harbor! Lots of fun facts! My son asked to come do it again before we even finished our ride. The ride was super chill and Dustin was easygoing and answered all of our questions!

    Outstanding trip

Awesome trip! We saw at least 1000 strong pod of dolphins. Hump back whale and a large gathering of sea lions. Our trip guide Dustin was incredible! I suggest requesting him by name. Very knowledgeable about the Newport Harbor. Plus outstanding insight into the area and animals off shore. Within 10 minutes of leaving the harbor we were on the huge dolphin pod and then came the star. The humpback whale.

Amazing Dolphin and Whale Watching Experience

We had an absolutely amazing experience on the Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach! From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The captain was knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure everyone had a great view of the wildlife. We were fortunate to see multiple pods of dolphins swimming alongside the boat, and the experience of watching them in their natural habitat was unforgettable. The private tour made the trip feel personalized and relaxing, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The boat was comfortable, the service was exceptional, and the captain’s passion for marine life was evident throughout the excursion. If you’re looking for a memorable and unique Southern California experience, I highly recommend this tour. It was truly one of the highlights of our trip!

    An absolute blast!

Dustin was great! Very easy to talk to, and very knowledgeable. No whales visible on our tour, but tons of dolphins, Common and Bottlenose, plus Sea Lions. A small group private tour is the way to go.

Don’t pass this trip up! Worth every penny!

The trip started with great communication on where to meet and park. Justin our guide made the trip relaxed as he was easy going and really knows the area well! We saw so many dolphins along with great scenery of the next level real estate surrounding us. If you’re in Newport Beach this trip is a no brainer and a must! Request Justin if you’re looking for next level knowledge a relaxed trip and want to see the dolphins and whales! 10 out 10

Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Newport Beach.

How much does Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach cost?

    +

Prices start at $425 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Newport Beach usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach take?

    +

Plan for about 2.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Newport Beach is not rushed.

Is Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Newport Beach, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2.5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach?

    +

Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Newport Beach can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Newport Beach and add a light layer if any part of the 2.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour in Newport Beach start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Newport Beach within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Newport Beach?

    +

Newport Beach runs year-round whale watching out of the harbour, duffy boat and sailing charters, Balboa Island walks and coastal e-bike rides toward Laguna. On Outty we rank every Newport Beach experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Escape Game: 60-Minute Adventures at Irvine Spectrum Center, Whale-Watching Cruise from Newport Beach, Electric Boat Rental in Newport Beach for Up to 12 People. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Newport Beach?

    +

December to April for grey whales, June to September for blue whales. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Newport Beach?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
