    Wonderful Deep Sea Fishing Adventure!

Captain Nick and Captain Jesse do an outstanding job! It was a blast chasing the fish by following the bird piles. It felt like you were flying right alongside the sea birds! We caught a skipjack tuna and Jesse diced it up for us and marinated it in a delicious poke sauce. Afterwards, we drove up by Waimea Canyon to the fantastic 4000 ft high Kalalau Lookout and we ate our delicious fresh fish while gazing down at the amazing Pacific Ocean. What an amazing, once in a lifetime experience! Thanks Nick and Jesse!!

Had a wonderful time - even as a novice!

Jessie and Eli were extremely knowledgeable about the area. They got a great sense of what we were hoping to get out of the trip, and really delivered! We caught two huge tuna (which were delicious!), they pointed out dozens of whales, and we even fought with a 400-lb Galapagos shark when he grabbed our line (LOL, not literally - we stayed in the boat and he stayed in the water)! Two of our party ended up being really seasick, and Jessie and Eli were both very empathetic and happy to adjust as needed to keep them comfortable. I wasn’t sure what to expect (I am NO master fisherman), but I truly had an excellent time.

Response from the operator: Aloha, Thank you so much for the fantastic review! It was lovely meeting your family and so glad we landed some nice skipjack tunas! Really appreciate you letting us take some fish home too. Made for a great lunch and two dinners! We don’t have sharks steal our tuna very often thank god. Boy that was exciting. Thanks again for the great review and your business! Mahalo Jessie

    Small but mighty

Jessie and Elijah were fantastic. They were so thoughtful! They made us feel super safe. We got lucky and caught three fish within the first couple hours. A tiger shark trailed my daughter’s catch while she reeled it in. Mind blowing! Then my husband and daughter got sea sick. They had ginger chews on board and had some good tips for feeling better. We cut the trip short but still made us feel like a million bucks. They really tailored the experience to our expectations.

Response from the operator: Aloha Alisha, Thank you so much for the great review! Those were some beautiful uku (grey snapper) we caught and you caught one of the biggest Nabeta (razor wrasse) I’ve seen! Huge! Rare to see Tiger sharks In Hawai’i so that was exciting!! So glad you had a great time and thank you for your business!! Mahalo Jessie

Tales (and heads) to be Remembered

We just took a fishing trip with Nick and Jessie. We left with fish for dinner for the rest of our trip, great memories, and fish tales to tell: a shark took fish we were reeling in running with it leaving us only a head, on two occasions we had 3 fish on the line at a time (we were a 2 person booking). Thanks to Nick and Jessie's expertise we were able to bring in 2 of the 3 on one of those occasions. Nick and Jessie were extremely professional, friendly, and easy to converse with. We had never been deep water fishing before (only freshwater), so it was great to have friendly education on all questions we had. Nick and Jessie expertise showed through with their ability to find the fish, getting everything we got close to the boat pulled in, and making it as smooth of a ride as possible in the open choppy waters. My only regret is it was only my partner and I, we should have brought more people to help with reeling in all the fish. We ended the trip with arms exhausted and us throwing in the towel due to lack of energy left from reeling in fish. All in all we caught 4 fish and a head. I did find myself looking at their availability calendar for the rest of our stay considering another outing (sadly my arms told me no). When we come back to Kauai we plan on doing it again without hesitation. Nick and Jessie are the best!

Response from the operator: Mahalo for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your fishing trip with us! It was such a fun day on the water. That was one of the biggest widest bird piles I’d seen this year and it did not disappoint! Deep sea fishing can definitely be a workout, and you both did an incredible job reeling everything in. We’d love to have you back out whenever you return to Kaua’i! hopefully with a few extra hands next time and one less head 🤣. Dang shark! Thanks again! —Jessie

Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Kauai.

How much does Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai cost?

    +

Prices start at $1700 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Kauai usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Kauai is not rushed.

Is Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 52 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 7 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Kauai, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Kauai can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Kauai and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Deep Water Fishing in Kauai start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Kauai within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Kauai?

    +

Kauai sells Na Pali Coast boat and helicopter tours, Waimea Canyon drives, tubing through old plantation ditches and Hanalei kayak trips. Ocean conditions shut down the north shore boat runs in winter, so cancellation terms matter. On Outty we rank every Kauai experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Koloa Zipline in Kauai, Kauai: NaPali Boat Tour on the Amelia K, Kauai: Secret Falls Kayak and Hike. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Kauai?

    +

April to June and September to October, with calmest seas in summer. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Kauai?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
