Disappointed in this experience
This is not a tour - it is a taxi ride to and from Guanajuato. The driver does not provide any tour information - not even a map! He just dropped us off and picked us up at the end of the day. The driver was nice and the ride was comfortable but we could just have easily taken a taxi or uber.
Response from the operator: Dear Carol, Thank you so much for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear that your driver was polite and that the ride was comfortable and smooth. We’re sorry to learn that the experience did not fully meet your expectations. Our service is a private day trip with an English-speaking driver, not a guided tour. Drivers ensure safe, punctual, and flexible travel, but they are not licensed tour guides and therefore are not permitted or obliged to accompany guests to the sites. Many of our guests choose this option for the convenience of private round-trip transportation between cities like Guanajuato, enjoying the flexibility to explore at their own pace with the driver available throughout the day. We hope you still enjoyed your time in Guanajuato. Kind regards, The Europe Journey Team

Driver only, no guide!
This was basically just hiring a driver to go to Guanajuato. I understand that we were not hiring a professional guide but, the title of the event sounds like at least there would be suggestions as to what to see with some context. Our driver was very nice but spoke little English (although we requested an English speaking driver). He asked us where we wanted to go, dropped us off and picked us up. The title of this excursion should be “Hire a driver to Guanajuato”.
Response from the operator: Hello, Deborah. Thank you for your comments. You are right. A professional guide was not included in your booking. Our drivers have a good enough level of English to communicate with the travelers. And what you were asked by our driver was to comply with the flexibility we offer for you to see what you want, rather than sticking to a fixed itinerary. We hope we can assist you in your next trip.

Our private English speaking guide could not speak English.
We signed up and paid extra for a private tour with an English speaking guide/driver who could answer questions, show us places of interest and make recommendations. The company first sent a driver who could not speak English to any extent. He used his phone ap to interact. We asked to end the tour. They send sent another driver who was supposed to be bilingual. He DID NOT KNOW much English either and was not able to answer questions, show us city sites or decent restaurants. Both drivers seemed like really nice men, good drivers and tried to be helpful. The company should not have sent them when an English speaking guide was promised. And paid for. It was the company ‘s fault - not the drivers. We were so disappointed as this was our only time in Guanajuato City.
Response from the operator: Hello, Susan. We're sorry your experience wasn't as pleasant as you expected. We would like to clarify some points about your review. First of all, either in the description of the product you booked, and in the messages that we sent you, we made perfectly clear that this service does not include a guide. So what you're claiming as extra payment, does not correspond to us. We did not charge you extra for anything. Our drivers are not licensed guides. They're local and profesional drivers, as stated in the information shared with you right after you booked this. Despite the language limitations that you're claiming as our drivers are not native Americans, our driver went above and beyond staying with you during your time in Guanajuato City, which was not included in the price you paid, as you only got the transportation both ways. Our driver and us as the company did our best to help you have a great day. We hope you like the experience next time we can assist you. Thank you.

Beautiful city that looks similar to the Amalfi Coast in Italy without the Sea.
We were picked up at our hotel at the appropriate time and were taken 2 hours drive to beautiful Guanajuato. Our chauffeur was very kind and helpful. We arrived in the city and met up with our English speaking guide. She took us all around the city. One day is not enough. If I had to do over again I would have stayed a couple of days. Our guide really knew the city and we were happy at the end of the day.
Response from the operator: Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re so glad to hear that your chauffeur was kind and helpful during your journey to beautiful Guanajuato. It sounds like you had a wonderful day exploring the city with your knowledgeable guide. We agree—one day is never enough in such a vibrant place! We hope to welcome you back for an extended visit next time.

Georgina top notch 👌🏽
Great experience. We booked last minute and the team quickly communicated with me directly. They showed up on time and were flexible when I informed them of our delay of 20 min for departure. The drive was comfortable with my two small children. Georgina was very kind and professional. She communicated when en route for pick-up and was prompt for departure in GTO. We would recommend for any day trip!! —Family from TX
Response from the operator: Hello, Emily! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great time and that our team was able to accommodate your last-minute booking. It's wonderful that Georgina's professionalism and kindness made the journey comfortable for you and your two small children. Your recommendation means a lot to us, and we're glad we could make your day trip enjoyable. It will be our pleasure to assist you again.

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for San Miguel de Allende.
How much does Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back cost?
+
Prices start at $231 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in San Miguel de Allende usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in San Miguel de Allende is not rushed.
Is Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 8 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in San Miguel de Allende, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in San Miguel de Allende can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in San Miguel de Allende and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private DayTrip San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato City and back start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central San Miguel de Allende within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in San Miguel de Allende?
+
On Outty we rank every San Miguel de Allende experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Tacos and Tequila Walking Tour with Taste of Miguel, Half Day Excursion - Horseback Riding Adventure in SMA, Historical and Cultural Walking Tour of San Miguel de Allende. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit San Miguel de Allende?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in San Miguel de Allende?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
