Salzburg Your Way with the Sound of Music

Best tour of my trip! The tour conveniently started with a pick up at our hotel. George gave us a thorough understanding of the whole day itinerary before we left as well as different options for the schedule throughout the day. He helped us so that we could make the best of all the time we had planned. The private tour is a great option for those that want to travel in comfort and also have the flexibility of tweaking the schedule throughout the day. Being extremely knowledgeable about Salzburg, George was able to take us to the sites that we had desired to visit in a more efficient and flexible manner than we would have been able to on a large tour.. We were able to see everything that we wanted to in Salzburg and even more. George is extremely knowledgeable about the area and gave us many tips we could use during our entire trip.. I highly recommend this private day tour to Salzburg and George.

    George is the man!

George is an amazing tour guide I believe my friend and I would say it was one of the best days we ever had. We saw so much and George was so patient and answered all of our questions and gave us great information. Highly recommend George and his dad, you won't regret it.

    The Unforgettable day in Salzburg

The review: My daughter and I spent an amazing day in Salzburg with our kind driver, George. He took us around some of the most iconic locations from The Sound of Music, and then gave us a few hours to explore the Old Town on our own, which is a pedestrian-only area. At the end of the tour, George surprised us with a truly unique spot we hadn’t even known about — Hangar-7 — where historic Red Bull racing cars are on display. The journey was long and a bit tiring, but absolutely worth it. We’re staying overnight in Salzburg, because tomorrow we’re continuing on to Munich with George! Thank you to the company!

Response from the operator: We are very glad for your wonderful experience with us! We wish you a pleasant stay in Europe!

Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vienna.

How much does Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back cost?

    +

Prices start at $412 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vienna usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back take?

    +

Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vienna is not rushed.

Is Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.7/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vienna, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vienna can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vienna and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Day Trip from Vienna to Salzburg and back start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vienna within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Vienna?

    +

On Outty we rank every Vienna experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Authentic Vienna Food Tour inc. lunch, street food, 3 drinks, Vienna Food Tour: Coffeehouses, Markets, Lunch & Street Food, Budapest Small-Group Day Trip from Vienna. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Vienna?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Vienna?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
