Viator bait and switch scam
What we paid over although the $400.00 for was not a private car and guide but a taxi for the day. Although the description we reciever after we purchased the tour said that a tour guide was excluded, it did say the driver spoke fluent English and was very knowledgeable of the area being toured. The driver showed up driving a common taxi as opposed to the contracted private sedan. The driver was nice and answered questions when asked but continued to make it clear that he is not a tour guide. The taxi had required taxi stickers in the rear passenger side windows hampering any photos along the way. The driver and the person that the driver got on the phone when i complained told me only a taxi was allowed by law to make this trip. The car was very uncomfortable as it had to make room in the rear seats for the invasive plastic divider from the driver. The next day we had a professional tour with private driver/ guide who said that there was no such requirement for a taxi only being allowed to make our trip. We were shorted on the car and lied to about the taxi requirement with no discount offered because they could not get a private car. I do not blame the driver as he was doing the best he could and was just following orders.

DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR... WORST TOUR EVER
My most memorable aspect of this tour was never to book it again. This tour was misrepresented as a private car, only to be seated in a cramped taxi cab. Never alerted that the streets of Barcelona were closed due to marathon, making it almost impossible to get out of the city. Arrival time to Girona should have be around 10am, instead arrived at 11:30. Driver, who I knew was not a tour guide, was however suppose to be knowledgeable about the city. His knowledge extended to a map. Tour company refused to extend our tour to the hour and a half we lost getting out of Barcelona. Therefore we never got to Pals and Perstallada as stated we would in tour description. Have requested a refund, but apparently Viator has no control, or decision making power over their tour companies and was rejected. Have taken other means to receive a refund. My strong suggestion is if you want to see Girona, hire Tours By Locals and not Viator.

Girona private driver for a day trip.
Syed was wonderful. He’s a great driver and had a lot of knowledge about the history of the area. We did not have a lot of time in Pals and Parapadella. Could have spent more time in one and skipped the other. Seemed quite expensive but it was nice to have someone else doing all the driving. Traveling with my adult daughter. There isn’t an option for just family.

Loved Girona. Great driver. But not worth the money.
Our driver was very nice and accommodating. The vehicle was very clean and the drive was great. However, after better understanding what we purchased, the cost for it and what was included, we would have been better off taking the train. Much more cost effective.

Girona is spectacular
Our private tour guide, Christian, was excellent… he gave us as much time as we needed at each stop and never rushed us. There’s something special about having a private guide and we had the good fortune of having one as knowledgeable and fun as Christian.

Why this scores 47
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Barcelona.
How much does Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona cost?
+
Prices start at $194 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Barcelona usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona take?
+
Plan for about 7 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Barcelona is not rushed.
Is Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 47 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (3/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Barcelona, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 7-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Barcelona can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Barcelona and add a light layer if any part of the 7-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Day Trip From Barcelona to Girona start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Barcelona within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Barcelona?
+
Barcelona's Gaudí sites are capacity-limited and the official timed tickets go first, so most of the market is resellers with a guide attached. We weight those heavily on whether the guide is an architecture specialist. Beyond Gaudí, the tapas crawls in Gràcia and the Montserrat day trips carry the highest rankings in the city. On Outty we rank every Barcelona experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Gràcia Tapas and Vermouth Crawl, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel & Cliff Jump from Barcelona, Costa Brava Tour: Kayak, Snorkel, Cliff Jump & lunch Small Group. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Barcelona?
+
May, June, September and October. Sagrada Família light is best mid-morning. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Barcelona?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
