    1. Beijing South Railway Station

You can choose to depart at any time from 8am to 9:30am – your private guide will collect you from your hotel for the short journey to Beijing South Railway Station. Traveling by bullet train, it takes around half an hour to reach Tianjin – even though it's 85 miles (137 kilometers) from Beijing.

      Pass by without stopping

    2. Porcelain House

On arrival, you'll transfer to a suitable vehicle: a coach, minivan, or car with private driver, or, for groups of three or less, a taxi. Your first stop is Porcelain House, a 1920s French-style colonial villa covered in thousands of pieces of ancient porcelain. Besides the startling exterior, the 5,000-square-yard (4,200-square-meter) interior is home to a museum of porcelain and antiques, including spectacular marble carvings, crystal, and semi-precious gems from the collection of the owner, Zhang Lianzhi.

    3. Five Great Avenues

Next, discover more of Tianjin's international past with a visit to Five Great Avenues (Wudadao), an area that's home to over 2,000 garden-style villas built by occupying powers during the 1920s and 1930s. You might wish to take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the area (own expense) to capture the architectural splendor at its best. Your guide will introduce you to Tianjin's cuisine over lunch in a local restaurant: as befits China's fourth largest city, Tianjin food is famous across China.

      120 minutes here

    4. Ferris wheel, Eye of Tianjin

After lunch, visit a landmark of modern-day Tianjin: the Tianjin Eye. This 394-foot (120-meter) ferris wheel is built over the Yongle Bridge: it's officially the first and only observation wheel to be built above a bridge. Each of the 64 passenger capsules can carry 8 passengers, giving a maximum capacity of 768 passengers per hour, and takes 30 minutes to complete a rotation. Enjoy spectacular views stretching as much as 25 miles (40 kilometers) into the distance from its highest point.

30 minutes here · Admission included

From here, you'll return to Tianjin Railway Station and board your bullet train back to Beijing. Your guide will transfer you back to your hotel, arriving between 4pm and 5:30pm.

    Wonderful day trip to Tianjin

⸻ We are extremely pleased we did this day trip. The guide was able to showcase the city to us, and the thoughtful planning made the experience both enjoyable and memorable. The itinerary involved quite a bit of walking, which requires a good level of fitness. It was assumed we were up for it, and thankfully we were able to complete the journey and spend hours exploring. The guide’s extensive knowledge was impressive — that we were shared fascinating historical insights and architectural details that we greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed lunch at a local restaurant. The recommended dishes were absolutely delicious. By the time we left at 7pm, the light show on the buildings along the river also started. The fast speed train is also another enjoyable experience.

Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.

How much does Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing cost?

    +

Prices start at $110 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing take?

    +

Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.

Is Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 16 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable culture & history in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing?

    +

No. This experience is sold on a non-refundable basis, so only book a date you are confident about. Similar experiences in the city do offer free cancellation if flexibility matters more than price.

Is Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing?

    +

Around 6 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Day Trip: Discover Tianjin by Bullet Train from Beijing start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Beijing?

    +

On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Beijing?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Beijing?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
