The best experience you can have, hands down!
So far, I've toured downtown Medellin (with this same company and guide), had two different food tours and now I can say I rode a horse through the Andes and toured a coffee farm. Out of all of my experiences, this one was by far the best and the reason why, was riding on horseback. The coffee farm and learning all about how the coffee was made was nice. Touring Jardin was nice as well, but, for me the main highlight was riding the horse. The other main highlight was my excellent guide, Daniela and her driver James. They were both excellent company and it was fun doing this trip with them. I've never ridden a horse before, so, if you are worried about not having any experience, they will give you a horse that they jokingly call "automatic". You don't have to know anything and it knows where it is going. Also, I don't want to diminish the other aspects of the tour. The coffee farm was beautiful, the owner and his wife were very nice and the coffee was delicious. The town of Jardin was beautiful as well and I enjoyed the famous coffee shop we stopped at. You should go on this tour! It's worth it!
Response from the operator: You don't know how incredibly happy it makes me feel to have a fine guest like you who has never ridden a horse, come on board with us and allow yourself to just let go and learn through our guidance and love for horses, nature and our guests! Many thanks for being an exemplary guest who hones in on all of the nuances and intricacies. Also, we appreciate you letting others know that you did all of your tours with us. I can't stress how important this is. When tourists book us for their first tour and book elsewhere for other tours, they ALWAYS, wished they had booked all of their travel with us. As you know, our quality and the unforgettable experiences we help create, are unmatched. Again, thank you for being an awesome guest. Blessings to you my friend. Alex from Medellintravels.com

Wonderful day learning about coffee
We had an early start as the drive from Medellin to Jardin is long. We got to the lovely finca where the horses and a couple of cups of coffee were waiting for us. The views from the path we took with the horses were amazing and really allowed you to see the extent of the coffee farms and how steep the terrain actually is. Everyone was incredibly friendly (guides, coffee farmers, etc) and made sure we learned as much as we could from the hands-on experience. You don't need to be an expert horse rider to enjoy this tour. It was my boyfriend's first time on a horse, he was assigned the tamest one, and he was able to ride up and down the hills holding his camera and taking pictures!

Fabulous Day with Alex on Horseback!!!!
We got started early and drove to Jardin and picked-up our horses and our guide. The three of us rode for a beautiful, scenic and serene ride til we came to the lovely water fall. After that, we rode up a small mountain to a chalet that actually was a private coffee plantation. We met the caretaker and his wife and were given delicious lemonade. After relaxing a bit and enjoying the beautiful view, we were taken to the coffee plants, shown how to pick the beans, take them to another area where they dry them in the sun, and then where they process the beans all the way through until the caretaker actually puts them on the stove in a pan turning all the time as they roast. After 15 minutes the beans are air dried and then ground. Right in front of us, they make fresh coffee. It was a truly special occasion and an amazing day as we rode our horses back to the stalls. What an incredible, once-in-a lifetime experience and Alex, our tour guide, made it all possible. BRAVO!!!!!
Response from the operator: Prickles, one of my favorite alltime guests. You are virtuous soul with a kindred spirit. I want to take a moment here to show you love and respect and thank you for your dedication to our mutual cause in helping our graffitti artists in the Comuna 13 barrio in Medellin. Your support has enabled our foundation and yours to do beautiful projects here, thus helping keep kids busy in art, English school, and entrepreneurial assistance, instead of drugs and gangs...thank you my brother. We love you! Alex and Lina

+

How far in advance should I book Private Day Tour of Jardín with Horseback Ride and Coffee Villa from Medellin?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Medellín can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Medellín and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Medellín within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Medellín?
+
On Outty we rank every Medellín experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Guatapé Tour: Piedra del Peñol with Boat Tour, Breakfast, Lunch, Comuna 13 Graffiti Tour with Street Food, More than Escobar Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Medellín?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Medellín?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
