During the 17th and 18th Century Berat was one of the most important cities in Albania and it also attracted citizens from all over the country to create settlements around the city. In this way, Gorica was created mainly as a merchant quarter especially with citizens from Voskopoja of South East of Albania. The white color of the city and the style were preserved creating in this way a city with two similar faces on 2 sides of Osumi river, connected through the Stone Bridge of Gorica.

    6. Mangalem is probably the most scenic part of Berat. Lied steply in the Hill, just under the castle, it is characterized by a typical Architecture, White walls and many windows seeing the its other copy, Gorica. Mangalem was structured mainly in the Ottoman period and was definitely shaped as today after an earthquake where some parts of the city were destroyed. Ancient and Medieval History Amid Scenic Beauty

Apollonia and Berat are both worthwhile to visit in a one day tour from Tirana. Our guide, Julio, was very knowledgeable, personable, and kind. As we walked through the archaeological park and museum at Apollonia, and the impressive castle at Berat, he provided outstanding commentary. My wife and I learned a lot. We were fortunate to have Julio as the guide on our tour the next day to Shkodra and Kruja, two other fascinating sites. Again Julio made the visit even more memorable, explaining so well the history and culture of his beautiful country.

A Wonderful Trip in A Beautiful Country

(My trip was a solo private tour) If you're on the fence about this tour, do it! I did this one and another Butrint, Saranda, and Gjirokastra; they were both outstanding. I'm not usually one to do guided tours, but Go as Local makes them enjoyable and educational. Xhulio - my guide for both trips - was knowledgeable and easy to interact with. As we were driving, he'd answer all of my questions about the history of Albania and the figures who helped shape it. He also pointed out interesting sights along the way to our destination. Albania is a beautiful country - Go as Local helped me appreciate it more than I would have on a standard tour. When I go back, I'll tour with them again.

    Worthy of the day

The linear progress of different cultures and centuries very well explained by Andy (great tour leader). The roads are good but it also helped that we had a careful driver (we had a private tour). Take time for a leisure lunch too!

Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Tirana.

How much does Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres cost?

    +

Prices start at $219 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Tirana usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres take?

    +

Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Tirana is not rushed.

Is Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 59 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Tirana, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres?

    +

Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Tirana can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Tirana and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Day Tour of Apollonia & Berat from Tirana or Durres start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Tirana within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Tirana?

    +

On Outty we rank every Tirana experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include From Tirana- Hiking Tour to Bovilla Lake & Gamti Mountain, From Tirana / Durres: Gamti Mountain and Bovilla lake Day Trip, Kruja castle, the old Bazaar & Sarisalltik- Departure from Tirana. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Tirana?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Tirana?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
