    2. Avenida de Mayo

Inspired by Madrid's Gran Vía, Avenida de Mayo is one of the largest and most important arteries in Buenos Aires. 3. Mercado San Telmo

It is a large indoor market that is located in the San Telmo neighborhood. Although it preserves old shops selling vegetables and meat, today it is a tourist place and antique dealers abound. The old stalls "in the neighborhood" that have been preserved for several decades coexist with antique dealers, more recent and related as the tourist boom in San Telmo. The building also includes some premises that have their own entrance from the street, including greengrocers, liquor stores, a restaurant and two notable bars: "San Pedro Telmo", and "La Coruña" .1

    4. Puente de la Mujer

The Puente de la Mujer, one of the emblems of the Puerto Madero neighborhood, is the first work in Latin America by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and represents another example of the City permanently seeking to position itself at the forefront of art and architecture in the entire region. It is a revolving pedestrian bridge with one of the largest turning mechanisms in the world, designed to allow the passage of sailing vessels that navigate the docks of Puerto Madero. The work, made in Spain and donated to the City by a private individual, represents the image of a couple dancing tango, where the white pole symbolizes the man and the curved silhouette of the bridge is the woman.

    5. It is the main seat of the Catholic Church of Argentina. In addition to being located in a key area of the City of Buenos Aires, it has a long history of disappointments in its construction. The current building is the sixth construction that has been carried out in this place since the second foundation of the City of Buenos Aires. Its final structure is neoclassical and has a profile rarely used in cathedrals, giving it a closer resemblance to a Greek temple than to the classic Catholic building.

    6. La Recoleta Cemetery

It is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Recoleta, which owes its name to the fact that the convent of the Recoleta monks was located there, to which the neighboring Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar also belonged (the cemetery was built in the old monks' garden. ). It is the most visited in the city, due to its numerous and imposing mausoleums and vaults, belonging to many of the main protagonists of Argentine history, such as that of Eva Perón (Evita), one of the most visited tombs. Likewise, it is worth a visit for its architectural value, since it is a sample of the times when the country was an emerging economic power and the main families of the city competed to build splendid pantheons. Many of the vaults and mausoleums are the work of important architects and are adorned with marble and sculptures; More than 90 vaults have been declared National Historic Monuments.

You can also take advantage of the armchairs that are on both sides of the main room or be located in the exclusive boxes that work as small reading rooms. If you want to see the City and sample authentic Argentine food and wine, this is the tour for you.

We booked this tour for the last day of our visit to Buenos Aires before we had a late night flight home. Dario was our tour guide and of all the private tours we did in South America this was by far the best tour. Dario's knowledge of the city and local culture and food was awesome. The tour included a fantastic lunch and wine tasting at a local restaurant the exceeded our expectations. The wine tasting was also the best of any one we did in both Chile and Argentina. If you want to see the City and sample authentic Argentine food and wine, this is the tour for you.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this glowing review! We’re thrilled to hear that your tour with Dario was the perfect finale to your South American adventure. He’s truly passionate about sharing the best of Buenos Aires — from its rich culture and history to its incredible cuisine and wine. Knowing that this was the highlight among all your tours means the world to us. We hope the memories (and maybe even a bottle of that wine!) stay with you for a long time. Wishing you safe travels and hoping to see you again soon! — The Depasseios Team 🍷🇦🇷✨

Best private tour we did in Argentina.

We had been in Argentina and Chile for 3 weeks on a cruise and land. We booked this tour on our last day before our late-night flight home from Buenos Aires. Our guide was Dario and he made this tour the best on all the ones we did in South America. His knowledge of the local history and cultures was amazing. If you want to see the real Buenos Aires and have a great lunch followed up with a super great wine tasting, this tour is the only one to do.

Response from the operator: What an amazing way to wrap up such a memorable journey through Argentina and Chile! We’re so happy to hear that Dario made your last day in South America the highlight of the trip. He truly loves showing off the real Buenos Aires — its history, culture, and of course, the food and wine! Thank you for trusting us with such an important moment of your travels. Safe travels home, and we hope to welcome you again soon! — The Depasseios Team 💙🍷🇦🇷

Best tour guide in Buenos Aires. ONLY HIRE HIM FOREVER!

Dario was amazing!!!! He was the most personable and fun guide anyone could ask for. Took us to lots of local spots and seemed to know all of the locals so we got access to things that other tourists did not. I will never recommend any tour guide, but him for the rest of time!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your incredible feedback! We’re thrilled to hear that Dario made such a lasting impression on your experience in Buenos Aires. His passion for the city and connection with the local community truly make each tour feel special and unique. We're lucky to have him on our team — and even luckier to have had the chance to share his magic with you! We hope to welcome you back again soon for more unforgettable adventures. **Warm regards,** **Depasseios Team**

Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Buenos Aires.

How much does Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy cost?

    +

Prices start at $130 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Buenos Aires usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy take?

    +

Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Buenos Aires is not rushed.

Is Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 69 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 19 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Buenos Aires, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 4-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy?

    +

Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Buenos Aires can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Buenos Aires and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Buenos Aires within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Buenos Aires?

    +

On Outty we rank every Buenos Aires experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Argentine Cooking, Wine & Beef Tasting at Argentine Experience, Historical Sherpa Food Tour of San Telmo with Street Food, Drinks, Cooking Class with Empanadas Steak & Flan by Argentine Experience. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Buenos Aires?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Buenos Aires?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.

What is included in Private City Tour with Local Gastronomy?

    +

Included: Private transportation; Carbonated beverages; Bilingual guide throughout the tour providing information; In-vehicle air conditioning; and Lunch. Not included: Gratuities. Always check the voucher for the final list before you travel.
