The Ministry of Sensible Wine Tours

If Monty Python had decided to abandon the Ministry of Silly Walks and instead pursue the Ministry of Sensible Wine Tours, they would have created OohProvence. We spent a glorious day exploring the vineyards around Aix-en-Provence with Christopher Curtis and visited Château de Beaupré, Domaine Saint-Ser, and Domaine Terre de Mistral. Along the way we sampled an impressive parade of whites, rosés, and reds. Fortunately, there was no exam at the end because by winery number three I was prepared to declare every wine my favorite. Each stop was fantastic, and we somehow managed to leave with several bottles despite arriving with the firm intention of ‘just looking.’ The wineries were excellent, but the real highlight was Christopher himself. From the first communication before the tour to the final drop-off, he didn’t miss a beat. Knowledgeable without being pretentious, organized without being rigid, and friendly without ever feeling scripted. He seemed to know the answer to every question, the history behind every vineyard, and a story for every occasion. Lunch together at La Place in Puyloubier was another highlight and felt more like spending the day with a well-traveled friend than a tour guide. Add in a comfortable car, a perfectly paced itinerary, beautiful scenery, and plenty of laughs, and it made for one of the best experiences of our trip. If you’re looking for a wine tour in Aix-en-Provence, stop searching. OohProvence and Christopher Curtis are the answer. Five stars, several bottles purchased, and not a single silly walk required.

Response from the operator: Chris thank you so much. It was an absolute pleasure and really nice spending time together and sharing life's experiences from Monty Python onwards! Thank you for sharing such detail in your extremely kind and generous review. What you say is what we always aim to achieve and your words give us encouragement that we are doing things right. You were both such lovely people to spend the time with and I hope you managed to reach Burgundy in time for enjoying their excellent wines. I'll be practicing my silly walk in time for your next visit. Come and see us again when time permits and have a wonderful summer ahead. Best wishes Christopher OohProvence

Oh La La - A bit of French Country Provence in Napier - Quiet & Beautiful

Stunning Quiet Accomodation in Napier set in a quiet setting in a beautiful garden. We stayed for three nights perfect accommodation in French Country Style - welcoming muffins on the table. Two Rooms - Large Lounge at the front and good sized Bedroom out the back. The decor is antique French chic - comfy bed with high quality linen, good bathroom with hot shower and fluffy towels. There is a self service breakfast of cereals, fruit and toast provided along with coffee pods, teas. There is a microwave. This was all adequate for us but others may wish to go out for dinner. We absolutely loved this accomodation check in was easy and friendly. If you love something that fits in with a beautiful garden with mature trees and statues that you can take an evening stroll in. You might see a rabbit and there are some quail as well. The garden has a gazebo and covered area just outside for use. This is suitable for couples.

Response from the operator: Thank you - we’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Provence.

Absolutely Wonderful!

My husband and I were on a cruise and had limited time to explore Provence. The Ooh Provence team organized a perfect day with visits to three wineries, a fantastic lunch, and a beautiful drive with views of Mont Sante Victoire. It was a bank holiday, so scheduling visits required an extra effort, but it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend!

Response from the operator: Thank you both so much for joining us for the day, our only regret was that the ship didn’t stay a little longer in port so we could extend our day together. Pleased you enjoyed the time we spent together and hope you’ll find time in the future to come back to Provence - we have so much more we can show you. Have a great autumn and stay in touch! Excellent Tour

This private tour was well worth the price. Our tour guide, Laurent, sent us a text message the night before to introduce himself and let us know where to meet him at the cruise port. He was there holding a sign with my name right on time. We arrived in Provence early so Laurent took us to the top of the mountain where we were treated to magnificent views of the French countryside. He took us to three local wineries of varying sizes, but all of them were small, family owned vineyards where we received personal service and a personal tasting guide. Two of them gave us an extensive "behind the scenes" tour of their own wine making process and we walked the vineyards, entered the cellars and saw the holding tanks and barrels so we could see how the wine is processed from vine to bottle. One of them had a small restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch, accompanied by their own wine, of course (the lunch is not included as stated in the tour description but it was not expensive). Our guide ate lunch with us and we enjoyed getting to know each other and became friends. We tried so many different wines that we lost count, but it was probably close to two dozen by the end of the day. The car was very clean and he had cold waters for us as needed. Laurent even gave us a small gift upon departure. We felt fortunate to have such a local, knowledgeable guide - it felt more like a family friend showing us around his town. I would highly recommend this tour and that you request Laurent as your guide.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your visit and thank you so so much for such a lovely review of your time we spent together in Provence. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you both and spend time together exploring the vineyards of Provence & Mt St Victoire. We appreciate so much your review and sincerely hope you’ll find time again in the future to come and visit us again. Best wishes from the South of France, Laurent @OohProvence

Excellent way to experience Provence!

Chris and Ooh Provence took my wife and I on an outstanding tour of three wineries in Provence, each unique in their methods, setup, and geography. But each had very good wines and each tasting experience was intimate, giving us the chance to interact directly with the people involved in making the wine. We also stopped for lunch in a small town in the region where we had a chance to eat outside under the shade of the trees and enjoy more exceptional wine and a delicious meal. Chris offered lots of interesting and helpful information throughout the tour, and took great care of us throughput; he was an exceptional tour guide. We would highly recommend this tour company for anyone really looking to get to know the area and it’s wines.

Response from the operator: Thank you for your review, we much appreciate it, plus we were super happy you both enjoyed the time we spent together. Visiting the wineries here in the south of France is an exceptional way to enjoy the best wines available in the region and against the backdrop of the Provençal countryside. Look forward to seeing you again. Cordialement Christopher

Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marseille.

How much does Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire cost?

+

Prices start at $195 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marseille usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire take?

+

Plan for about 7.5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marseille is not rushed.

Is Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 66 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marseille, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 5. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 7.5-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire?

+

Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marseille can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marseille and add a light layer if any part of the 7.5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Cézanne Provence Wine Tour - Aix-en-Provence St Victoire start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marseille within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Marseille?

+

On Outty we rank every Marseille experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Marseille Food Tour – Full Meal of Local Tastes by Do Eat Better, Beyond Bouillabaisse: Diving into Marseille’s Multicultural Stew, Marseille Guided Tour for 4 Hours with a Bilingual Local Guide. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Marseille?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Marseille?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
