Great tour with canal cruise
We had a nice experience with Xavier. He is very knowledgeable and very friendly. With the tour we got a complete overview of the highlights and hidden gems of the city and as a bonus we could finish with a nice canal cruise. The weather was nice and with the information of the guide we could much more enjoy the canal cruise. Thank for the great tour Xavier!

Overpriced tour for a rainy day - canal boat not private
$400 USD is a lot for a city tour, but we decided to purchase it because we thought it included a private canal boat ride. The promotional photo also showed a boat with few passengers, suggesting a private intimate experience. In reality, the “private boat” portion meant that standard €15 tickets were purchased for us — so roughly 90% of the cost was for the company fee and guide (or $150/hour). Unfortunately, the boats weren’t operating due to rain, so our 3hr tour became a 2.5-hour walking inside tour instead, covering the City Hall and the Church of Our Lady (both €8 each). Our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant, and we heard interesting stories about history and architecture but overall, we found this tour quite overpriced compared to other private walking tours we’ve enjoyed and appreciated throughout Europe.
Response from the operator: Hi Patricia, thanks for the review. We are happy to hear you were satisfied with our offered services. Quality is important, especially with private tours. We understand you were not happy you couldn't do the canal cruise, which is part of the experience, and gives you the impression that the tour by consequence is to expensive for what it is. Unfortunately due to bad weather and your short stay you couldn't do it. We'll give you a refund for the missed canal cruise as a compensation.

Great Way to Get a Sample of the City Sites
Our tour guide met us at the Historium in the Markt. We visited Markt Square, De Burg, Basilica of the Holy Blood, Vismarkt, a Gothic Mansion, Arentshoff, Gruuthesemuseum, a brewery, Beguinage, canal tour and stopped into a chocolate shop for samples. Our tour guide grew up and lives in Bruges. He was very knowledgeable and had interesting stories to tell us about the city of Bruges. Our favorite part was the canal tour. Seeing Bruges from a different view point was wonderful. It was a beautiful sunny day and we loved the water views.
Response from the operator: Thanks for the review.

Why this scores 61
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Bruges.
How much does Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise cost?
+
Prices start at $17 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Bruges usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise take?
+
Plan for about 3 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Bruges is not rushed.
Is Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 61 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.5/5 across 4 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Bruges, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 3-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise?
+
Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Bruges can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Bruges and add a light layer if any part of the 3-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Bruges Historical Walking Tour with Canal Cruise start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Bruges within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Bruges?
+
On Outty we rank every Bruges experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Historical Walking Tour: Legends of Bruges, Bruges Guided Retro Biketour: Highlights, Hidden Gems & Tasting, THE Storytelling Tour of Bruges | First Day Must | History & Tips. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Bruges?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Bruges?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
