    Dream day adventure

We originally booked a private boat tour to Yalapa with Fernando & Mixon but upon arrival they suggested we checkout another small fish town instead since the waterfall at Yalapa was not currently flowing. We are so glad we took their advice. An hour long boat ride and we arrived at the town of Quimixto where Mixon lead us on a adventure of horseback riding up to a waterfall with a small restaurant and swimming hole. On the way back to PV, we stopped at another beach town where we enjoyed more margaritas and parasailing. Fernando & Mixon were awesome, this was definitely the highlight of our trip!

Great Yelapa experience with La Vida Bella!

Great experience visiting Yelapa. The captain and his mate are a father/son combo who were very polite and accommodating. Their patience with my family of 5, children ages 14, 7, and 5, was very much appreciated. I was also pleasantly surprised when the captain took us on a personal tour of the town and up to the town's water fall, which I was not expecting. The cost of this private tour is well worth it for peace of mind and relaxation. Definitely recommend!

    Drab

Very disorganized. We left 40 minutes late. Breakfast was cold and tasteless scrambled eggs with chips. The snorkeling was fine. We arrived in Yelapa and had to wait for the folks who were paying for extra ATV or horseback rides to disembark. On the surface, that seems reasonable but, by the time we got to the beach there were no more umbrellas and chairs available. We were told to go have lunch. Not a great option, since we just had breakfast. But then we were told lunch would be another wait. We ended up sitting in the resteraunt . It felt like because we didn't pay for extra excursions we were abandoned. Finally, lunch. It was drab, really. On the ride back the entertainment was very loud through horribly cracked speakers. . The reviewcrew and some of the passengers engaged in mimicking explicit perverted sexual acts. I wont describe this. It was outrageous and children were there. On the way home we discovered the tequila was watered down. I know this is a horrible. It fits the day.

Response from the operator: I'm sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience. You have the wrong tour company as this review doesn't fit our profile. Sounds like this was not a private tour and was a booze cruise tour. We do not serve breakfast. We are a private boat and never have to wait for other people upon arrival to Yelapa. If the guests choose to have lunch on the beach, we have a reservation ready at the restaurant. The captain and deckhand are a father son team, they would never engage in perverted sexual acts. Please be careful and make sure you write the review to the correct company.

    Do this tour!

Fernando and George were fantastic. Glad we did the private boat instead of the larger group tours. They were accommodating and made the trip special.

Private Boat Tour to Yelapa: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Puerto Vallarta.

How much does Private Boat Tour to Yelapa cost?

    +

Prices start at $775 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Puerto Vallarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private Boat Tour to Yelapa take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Puerto Vallarta is not rushed.

Is Private Boat Tour to Yelapa worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 23 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Puerto Vallarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private Boat Tour to Yelapa?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private Boat Tour to Yelapa suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Private Boat Tour to Yelapa?

    +

Around 8 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Puerto Vallarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Puerto Vallarta and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private Boat Tour to Yelapa start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Puerto Vallarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Puerto Vallarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Winner 2026 Downtown Vallarta Food Tour with Vallarta Food Tours, Signature Taco Tour in PV with Vallarta Eats, Food & Mixology Tour:Tequila,Tacos, Mezcal and Agave Cocktails. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Puerto Vallarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
