An incredible sight!
This was a long drive but it didn’t feel long because the sites were so beautiful and we stopped every hour for tea, a snack, or to take photos. Our driver’s name was Oussama (I may be spelling that wrong), he was really nice, he had water in the car for us and he made the trip really comfortable. He stopped at this amazing lookout point and took pictures for us. Stopping for tea and snacks along the way in such a beautiful place (the mountains) made it feel like the drive was part of the adventure. It was a private car, rather than a bus so it was a comfortable drive. Once we got to our destination, we met our local guide Hussain, who grew up in Ait Ben Haddou and knew the area well. We walked from the new town to the old town (located inside the fortress that is Ait Ben Haddou. Our guide said most families have moved to the new town because it has electricity and only two families are still living in the old town. It was built in the 11th century and thinking about how these families have been there this whole time is pretty incredible. We hiked all the way to the very top of the castle and it was tough but an incredible view! This isn’t a long hike but it’s high in elevation so I would highly recommend athletic wear, proper shoes, a hat, lots of water, and a high sugar snack to eat at the top. Hussain took pictures of us at the top with a great view behind us and he shared the history of the fortress and the Berber symbols we saw around the place. He had worked on some of the movies that were filmed there and showed us some pictures from them and a long list of movies (all filmed at Ait Ben Haddou). We watched a demonstration of a Berber artist who painted with lemon juice, saffron, sugar, and indigo. He showed us how Berber’s used to communicate by sending secret messages that the recipient would have to put on a fire to be able to see the message. Then we stopped at a women’s cooperative and saw how they made rugs. I wish I could have bought one from them. They were all so friendly and the rugs were so beautiful, and it is incredible how much work goes into making them. We walked back to the new town and had lunch at a restaurant. We had delicious authentic food for a great price and then Oussama took us back to our hotel. We fell asleep for half the drive back and then stopped for a snack. Overall, I think it was about an 11 hour day (8am-7pm) and it was a great time! I would highly recommend this experience! And I would highly recommend a private car.

Truly a gem!
I recently visited Aitbenhaddou and was absolutely blown away by its mesmerizing beauty and rich history. The ancient kasbah is a true architectural marvel, with intricate details and stunning views at every turn. The well-preserved mud-brick buildings take you back in time, making you feel like you're stepping into a real-life movie set. Kamal the driver was friendly and professional, informative and sensitive to our comfort and enjoyment of the trip.ali the local guide were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his village. providing informative insights into the history and significance of Ait Benhaddou. They made the visit even more rewarding by sharing fascinating anecdotes and stories about the place. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking, with the majestic Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. A visit to Aitbenhaddou is a must-do for anyone seeking an immersive cultural and historical experience in Morocco.

Absolute MUST DO in Marrakech
If there is one thing you do whilst in Marrakesh make it this tour. Our driver was awesome, punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. We had a really enjoyable day, at our own pace and stopping whenever we wanted for a drink or just to take in the incredible scenery. Transport was comfortable and water provided for the long journey. Ait Ben Haddou is amazing and the guide there was also brilliant and we had great fun with him and learned so much. So stop scrolling other tours and book this one now. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Why this scores 73
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Marrakech.
How much does Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Marrakech usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech take?
+
Plan for about 10 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Marrakech is not rushed.
Is Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 73 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 20 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Marrakech, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 10-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech?
+
Around 7 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Marrakech can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Marrakech and add a light layer if any part of the 10-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate Day Trip from Marrakech start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Marrakech within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Marrakech?
+
On Outty we rank every Marrakech experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Agafay Desert Quad Bike Camel Ride and Dinner Show, Best Marrakech to Fes Sahara Desert Tour with Camp & Camel Trek, 3 Day Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour Camel Rides and Overnight. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Marrakech?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Marrakech?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
