Great experience outside tour guide. Don’t miss it!
Tim is an outstanding tour guide who will share his pride in his city and the sights of Adelaide. Cleland Sanctuary was so much fun. We fed the kangaroos, petted a koala, and chatted with a parrot! The sanctuary is large and provides the animals with plenty of space to roam. Hahndorf is a quaint German village filled with amazing restaurants, bakeries, fudge shops and little shops. We had lunch at Haus, it was delicious, but be careful not to eat too much so you have room to sample cheeses at the cheese factory and enjoy samples of wonderful chocolates and hot chocolate. The morning was very foggy so we skipped Mount Lofty Summit, but tried again in the afternoon and were able to see the beautiful parks and the central business district that made up Adelaide. The day was outstanding because of Tim’s tour skills, knowledge and experience. He is a pro and made the day special. Don’t miss it!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear you had such a great day exploring the Adelaide Hills with Tim. Cleland Wildlife Park and Hahndorf are always favourites, and it sounds like you made the most of both. Tim will be very pleased to hear your lovely comments about his knowledge and experience. Thank you for choosing Discover Adelaide Tours and for recommending the experience. We hope to welcome you back to South Australia again one day!

Best guide, best sites! Don’t miss this.
Tim is an exceptional tour guide. He spent the day telling us about the history of Adelaide and all the special parts of the city. Cleland was our fourth sanctuary that we visited in out two weeks stay in Australia and it was by far the best! We enjoyed Hanhdorf was a very quaint town with rich history of German settlers. The town is full of restaurants, shops, fudge shops and delicious bakeries. Don’t miss Haus if you’re there for lunch, but save room for the cheese factory and the chocolate factory where you can taste the best hot chocolate on earth. The sky’s were foggy in the morning, but Tim took us to Mount Lofty Summit in the afternoon so we were sure to see the beauty of Adelaide from the ‘mountain’ top. The day was finished before we knew it but it was a day spent with an outstanding guide who showed us the best that Adelaide had to offer.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much, Richard! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a fantastic day with Tim and enjoyed exploring the Adelaide Hills, Cleland Wildlife Park and Hahndorf. Tim takes great pride in sharing Adelaide and its surrounding regions with our guests, so I know he’ll really appreciate your kind words. We’re especially delighted that you enjoyed the day enough to book another tour with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow for another great day out!

A really fun, informative, all round interesting experience. We loved it.
We picked up a brochure from an Adelaide Hotel. We liked the look of the variety of things to do on our day trip. We didn't want just a winery. We got lucky, Liz was doing the tour we wanted the next day. There was only 4 others on the mini bus. Liz was excellent. As a local, she knew the old and more current things about the Adelaide Hills. She explained the area well, and obviously loved her area. We didn't feel rushed. We visited "tourist" things, but it was exactly what we wanted.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. I’m so pleased the Adelaide Hills tour was exactly what you were looking for, especially with the mix of sightseeing, local stops and beautiful places to explore beyond just wineries. It was a pleasure sharing the region with you, and I’m glad you enjoyed the relaxed pace and small-group feel of the day. The Adelaide Hills is a part of South Australia I truly love, so it means a lot to hear that came through during the tour. Thank you again for choosing Discover Adelaide Tours.

Everything we hoped for and more!
Liz was an AMAZING tour guide! She went above and beyond to make sure our day was everything we hoped it would be, and even more! We had booked her small group tour for a Sunday, but decided to move the booking to Monday instead. Doing so, we actually lucked out with a PRIVATE tour just our family of three), as no one else had booked for the day! Liz personalized our tour to ensure we had a fabulous experience at Cleland Wildlife Park feeding the kangaroos and wallabies, petting Edmond the koala, getting some great photos and sharing her expertise on the locale and animals! Liz asked us about the kinds of wine we enjoy, and then took us to a fabulous vineyard where the OWNER gave us a private tasting of her excellent wines! We also enjoyed our walkabout in Hahndorf, where we enjoyed treats at a local bakery and ate a delicious German lunch at a local restaurant. After that, Liz dazzled us with a trip to Melba’s Chocolate Factory where she gave us a tour and a tasting of several of the delicacies they make there! We enjoyed all the information and trivia Liz shared with us, as well as learning the rich history of the areas we went past on our travels. It was a marvelous experience - we highly recommend Liz and Discover Adelaide Tours!!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this beautiful review! I really enjoyed the day with your family too. It brought me so much joy seeing how much fun you were having, especially at Cleland with the kangaroos, wallabies and Edmond the koala. I’m so glad we could personalise the day for you and include a winery with your tastes in mind. It was such a pleasure showing you the Adelaide Hills, and I would absolutely love to show you more of South Australia if you are ever back this way again!

Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Adelaide.
How much does Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $536 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Adelaide usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 8 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Adelaide is not rushed.
Is Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 40 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Adelaide, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 8-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Adelaide can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Adelaide and add a light layer if any part of the 8-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private Adelaide Hills Tour including Cleland, Hahndorf and Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Adelaide within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Adelaide?
+
On Outty we rank every Adelaide experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Adelaide Highlights, Hahndorf & McLaren Vale Wine Tasting and Sightseeing Tour, Premium Barossa Small Group Tour: Wine tasting, Lunch & Chocolate, Barossa Valley Hop-On Hop-Off Wine Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Adelaide?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Adelaide?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
