Six Days of Kerala That Felt Genuinely Varied
What we liked most about this trip was that no two days felt the same. Munnar gave us the cool air, tea-covered hills and long scenic drives we had imagined before coming to Kerala, but the atmosphere was much quieter than expected. We especially enjoyed the smaller stops along the way rather than trying to rush through every viewpoint. Thekkady brought a completely different side of the trip. The spice-growing areas were fascinating, and it was interesting to see how much of everyday Kerala life is connected to plantations and local agriculture. Alleppey was probably the point where we properly slowed down. The houseboat was peaceful, the food was good, and simply watching the waterways and village life from the boat became one of our favourite memories. Kovalam was a relaxed way to finish. After several days of travelling, having some time by the coast felt like exactly the right ending. The private vehicle also made a big difference. We never had to worry about finding transport, moving luggage or sticking to someone else’s timetable. Our driver was helpful, patient and easy to travel with throughout the six days. Six Days, So Many Different Sides of Kerala
What surprised us most was how quickly the mood of the trip kept changing. One morning we were surrounded by tea-covered hills in Munnar, and a couple of days later we were sitting beside the backwaters watching tiny boats move past villages. It never felt like we were repeating the same type of sightseeing. Munnar was probably the place where we took the most photos, but the quieter moments were better than the busy viewpoints. Early morning air, mist sitting over the hills, random tea stops and those winding roads made the place feel special. Thekkady was a nice change after that. It felt more earthy and forested, and we enjoyed learning about the spice-growing areas instead of just visiting another viewpoint. It gave the trip a different character. Alleppey was where everything slowed down properly. Once we were on the backwaters, nobody really cared about checking the time anymore. We ate, talked, watched the scenery move past and enjoyed having absolutely nothing urgent to do. Kovalam was a good choice for the final part of the trip. After several days of travelling, being near the coast gave us the chance to relax before leaving. The private vehicle made the whole route much easier too. We never had to worry about arranging another taxi, moving luggage around or rushing because someone else was waiting. Our driver was friendly and patient, especially when we suddenly wanted to stop for a photo or something to eat.
