Best hike and guides imaginable

As someone who has never hiked, camped, or even considered doing a trip like this, I was slightly nervous about the trip. When we had our first meeting with our amazing guides, I was no longer worried. Our guides, along with our porters, made my trip, as well as my family's, unforgettable. When most people rushed through Machu Picchu, we went back for an extra day and explored with our guide, and received a full history, as he felt extra connected to the location because it was built by his ancestors. This was the other thing that made Incatreckers stand out/above all the other groups; they are run by and staffed by all locals. Most of the other groups are out-of-country tourist groups, but not Incatreckers. Everything is done locally, from the moment you buy the bread you will eat, to the people who walk by your side. This made the experience stand out more than anything. The owner(our head guide) and our other guide made sure to make our time on the mountain as enjoyable as possible, so if this meant extra breaks or singing on the mountain, that is what we did. Thank you, Incatreckers, for making this an experience I will never forget!!!!

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled that our local team could make your trip so unforgettable and meaningful. It was truly our pleasure to guide you and your family through this adventure!

Indescribable

Our family did the 4 day trek with Juve and wow.. Juve was such a perfect fit for our group as a guide. He allowed us to take our time and enjoy the sights along the way. He mentioned how passionate he is about flora and fauna and we were over the moon to hear that we would be learning about the local species and biodiversity along the trail. Quite a few photographers in our group so there was lots of stopping along the way to appreciate the wildlife and plants that were of particular interest to us. Juve's knowledge of birds in the area is outstanding and it was so wonderful to watch and witness the birds with him. The colours of the vegetation from the canopy level down to the mosses and lichen at ground level is absolutely incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed taking it all in. The porters are absolutely astounding and very accommodating. They were so lovely, congratulating us each evening when we arrived at camp. Our chef, Mario, made the most amazing dishes that we suggest he make a cookbook with all his recipes. We appreciate everyone on the team so so much. When arriving at Inca sites including machu picchu, Juve was very engaging when telling us about the history and culture of the Incas and his ancestors. I feel so privileged to have been able to learn about this important civilisation and era and to be able to ask questions about it all. So much beauty and tragedy in these historical events but very important to be educated on them. Overall words cant explain my experience, just so so amazing, once in a lifetime.

Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We’re glad you and your family enjoyed learning about Peru’s nature, history, and culture with Juve and our team. It was an honor to share such a wonderful experience with you.

The adventure of a lifetime! Book your trip with Incatrekkers!

I could not recommend Incatrekkers more! We did the 5 day Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu and it was absolutely incredible. Our guides Juvenal and Cesar, and the entire team of porters and chefs made our experience unforgettable, and their depth of knowledge and passion showed every step of the way. In addition to the epic Inca sites, we were able to explore the incredible birding the Inca Trail has to offer- spotting many rare Peruvian birds with the expertise of Juvenal! If you want to experience the best of Machu Picchu and support a company run by indigenous Peruvians, Incatrekkers is for you!

Response from the operator: It was an honor to be part of your Machu Picchu adventure. Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review.

Amazing amazing amazing!!!

Wow- a trip of a lifetime. We went with 11 people family and friends Remington age from 14-71. It was amazing experience. The natural beauty of the mountains, trees, birds and Inca ruins, and of course the Lamas. Our guides Juveh and Cesar where great. They were motivational, very knowledgeable, encouraging and fun. All 16 porters and 2 chefs were great, and very helpful. The food exceeded all of our expectations by far. On the last night our chef even made a birthday cake for one of our crew. I can’t say enough good things about the whole experience. Incatrekkers is a great company and we would highly recommend them. They are also a local company with roots in the community and tremendous pride in the history of the Inca land and history.

Response from the operator: Your support means the world to us. We’re glad you enjoyed every step of your Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu!

4 day inca trail to matchu picchu

Inka Trekers were amazing on our 4 day hike to Matchu Picchu, leading my family and I safely to Matchu Picchu. The food was amazing and so was all the support from our two great guides Juve and Ceasar. Having little to no hiking experience, the idea of doing a 4 day 3 night hike was not too welcoming, but Juve made sure we were all comfortable and safe as well as speaking passionatley about all of the culture we saw along the way! We also did our fair share of Birdwatching during our days on the trail which was an amazinh addition!

Response from the operator: Your feedback means a lot to our team—thank you for choosing us for your Inca Trail adventure!

Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Cusco.

How much does Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu cost?

+

Prices start at $1400 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Cusco usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu take?

+

Plan for about 96 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Cusco is not rushed.

Is Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu worth it?

+

It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 14 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Cusco, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu?

+

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu suitable for kids and families?

+

The operator sets a minimum age of 10. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 96-hour running time when deciding.

How far in advance should I book Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu?

+

Around 5 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Cusco can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

+

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Cusco and add a light layer if any part of the 96-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Private 4 Day Inca Trail Trek Tour to Machu Picchu start and how do I get there?

+

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Cusco within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Cusco?

+

On Outty we rank every Cusco experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Sacred Valley Full Day Tour, Peruvian Cooking Class Cocktails and Market Tour in Cusco, Cusco: Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley Premium Day Trip with Meals. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Cusco?

+

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Cusco?

+

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

+

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
