Begin an unforgettable trip through almost 7,500 square miles (12,000 km²) of fantastic landscapes of salt and surrealist landscapes of deserts and colored lagoons of the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve. The dazzling white mantle of the Salar de Uyuni resembles an immense glacier. In winter (dry season from May to October), when the surface hardens, geometric figures formed by the salt particles agglomerated into polygons appear. In summer (rainy season from November to March) the salt desert is transformed into a giant mirror that blends into the sky of the purest blue you've ever seen before.

Israel and the Joker team made Uyuni the highlight of our whole trip
Then there was Israel, our guide. We have done a lot of guided trips and he is in a category of his own. He knew the geology, the history and the wildlife inside out, but what really stood out was how attentive he was. He noticed when we needed a break at altitude, when we wanted more time for photos, when we were cold, before we said a word. By the end of three days he felt like a friend we will stay in touch with for a long time. Our driver was just as kind and careful, and we felt completely safe the entire route. The trip itself was everything we hoped for: the salt flats stretching to the horizon, giant cactus on Incahuasi, flamingos in the colored lagoons, star gazing (you can see the Milky Way perfectly!!), the hot springs, the Stone Tree. Luna Salada and Tayka del Desierto were both special stays. One thing we did not expect: the Starlink in the Land Cruiser was a game changer. High speed internet the entire route, even in the middle of the reserve. It worked perfectly the whole trip, and with oxygen on board too we had real peace of mind at nearly 5,000 meters. Food was fantastic!! The moment that sealed it for us: our flight out of Uyuni was cancelled on the morning we were supposed to leave. Israel and Jose jumped on it immediately and had a private car to La Paz arranged within the hour. That kind of care is rare. If you are considering Uyuni, book with Joker and ask for Israel. Worth every dollar.

Amazing Bolivia Experience
This trip was very well organised by Jose. I'm not sure of the name of the transfer driver in La Paz, but he was very lovely and super helpful. Our guide Soledad and driver Constancio were both very lovely. Sole was very informative and answered all of our questions. She took heaps of photos for us and was prepared with the dinosaur for photos in the salt flats. The food was amazing, especially the lunches. The salt hotel on the first night was luxury. I understand that the second night we were in the middle of the desert. Given this the hotel was good. The shower was really hot. The dinner was great and it was nice they had fires there. Even though tge room was cold, the bed was warm, especially with the hot water bottles. The hotel on the 3rd night was lovely and the staff were super nice.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. It was a genuine pleasure to organize your journey, and we are delighted to know that you felt well taken care of throughout the experience — from your transfer in La Paz to the remote landscapes of Uyuni and the Altiplano. We especially appreciate your kind words about Soledad and Constancio. Sole will certainly be happy to hear that her knowledge, attention and photography skills — including the famous dinosaur! — helped make your time on the Salt Flats even more memorable. We are also very pleased that you enjoyed the meals, accommodations and the small details such as the hot water bottles, which can make such a difference during the cold nights of the Altiplano. Thank you for understanding the unique conditions of traveling through such a remote region. Combining comfort with the opportunity to experience these extraordinary landscapes is something we care deeply about. Thank you again for trusting JOKER EXPEDITION with your journey through Bolivia. We hope you returned home with wonderful memories that will stay with you for many years. 🇧🇴 Warmest regards, Jose & the JOKER EXPEDITION Team

Adventure of a Lifetime
An absolutely amazing experience of a lifetime. My son and I went during the ongoing political unrest situation in Bolivia. Roads were blocked and travel in and out of La Paz was impossible but Joker Expeditions got us to Uyuni against all odds. Getting back OUT of Uyuni truly was impossible and Joker got us out of Bolivia through the Chilean border. Our guide and driver were so professional and kind and truly cared about our safety and well being. We loved every minute of our big adventure and I recommend Joker to anyone looking to experience the majesty of the salt flats and desert. I will never forget the llamas and flamingos in the icy lagoons at 16,000 feet.
Response from the operator: Dear Patricia Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. It was truly a pleasure to welcome you and your son to Bolivia. Your journey took place during a particularly challenging period, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in our team. When circumstances become unpredictable, our priority is always the safety, comfort, and well-being of our guests, and we are delighted that we were able to help make your adventure possible despite the challenges. The landscapes of Uyuni and the Altiplano have a way of staying with us forever, and we are thrilled that the flamingos, llamas, vast salt flats, and high-altitude lagoons left such a lasting impression on both of you. On behalf of our entire team, thank you for allowing us to be part of this unforgettable father-and-son adventure. We hope the memories of Bolivia remain with you for many years to come, and we would be honored to welcome you back for another journey in the future. Warm regards,

Excellent Private Multi Day Tour - Uyuni Salt Flats: White Deserts and Colored Lagoons
We had a wonderful three day, two night tour of Salar de Uyuni and the Siloli Desert. Our tour guide - Oscar - was excellent; very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and the wildlife we saw. Samuel, our driver, did an amazing job driving both on the Salar and touring the desert. On the first day of our tour, after being picked up at our hotel, we stopped in Colchani for a stop to see how they process salt. We then entered the Salar de Uyuni for a full day of touring on the Salt Flat. Overnight was spent in Tayka de Sal - a lovely hotel made of salt on the edge of the Salar. Before dinner Samuel and Oscar took us out on the Salar to see the sunset, accompained by wine and snacks. On the second day we exited the Salar and began our travels to the Siloli Desert, where the landscape changed to volcanic rock formations, lagoons and Andean scenery. That night was spent at the Hotel Tayka Del Desierto, a very high altitude hotel. On our last day we continued to tour the desert, visiting several colorful lagoons full of flamingos. We had a great tour - saw a beautiful part of Boliva, and Oscar and Samuel were enjoyable to travel with.

Amazing Experience - Salar de Uyuni and lagoons
After searching and contacting several tour agents for a private 3-day Uyuni trip, we chose Joker Expeditions and had a wonderful experience with them. As usual, we had several questions before the trip, and the owner of this young company was very communicative. He responded to all my questions very fast. Throughout 3 days of the trip, we had Al as our guide and Iver as our driver. Al’s enthusiasm, professionalism and Iver’s carefulness made the tour safe and enjoyable. We enjoyed all the lunches they prepared. The sunrise and sunset drinks and snacks were another nice surprise! We also highly appreciated that they gave us a 4WD Toyota Lexus, the best car ever, which made our long drive less tiring. Highly recommeblnd this company!

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
