Lazy tourists in Beijing dragged out of hotel and have a great time.
Being lazy tourists, we did NOT want to get up early for our tour of the Forbidden City (no longer so Forbidden), but John INSISTED that we meet him downstairs in our hotel lobby at 7:00 am. So reluctantly, we met him there, coffee in hand. Well, as much as I hate to admit it, had we not arrived early at the Forbidden City, we would have been swallowed not just by a horde of tourists but by multiple hordes of tourists (though none of them Mongolian hordes). We would have lost well over an hour just to get in, meaning we would have had to wait longer at the Summer Palace, losing even more time in our regrettably short trip to Beijing. The next day, even worse, we had to be downstairs at 6:30 am to get to the Great Wall. Once again, we arrived just before huge numbers of other tourists, so many that if they had been extras in a movie, 90% would have been created with computer graphics because hiring that many extras would be prohibitively expensive. If we hadn't gotten there as early as we did, we would have had to wait in line long enough for them to build another Great Wall, which might have been nice, because the existing one, though big, long, and impressive, is kind of dated. Leaving aside getting up early, John was a terrific guide. On the way to the sights, he talked about their history and, in doing so, taught us a little about the overall history of this amazing country and touched on modern China and how it is influenced by its past. John arranged for a van that was surprisingly comfortable, and, being very lazy travelers, we hated to leave it every time we had to get out. Though it would take a dozen years to really know Beijing, John showed us more of the city and taught us more about it than we ever could have expected and in a fun and diverting way.

China in two days thanx to Terry!
My husband and I are road warriors. We travel hard and fast and ensure that our small time in any given spot is filled up with amazement. Terry provided this and some! If someone were to ask me what to see in China, my response would be everything and only Terry can provide that. Kept the pace good, saw everything, knew all the perfect spots to take photos away from the crowds and great food was enjoyed by all. I cannot wait to go back to China to see the many wonders and splendors this great country has to offer and we will only travel with Terry, the superstar of tour guides!

Family Tour of Beijing
My wife and I have been to Beijing many times and done most of the sites in the area but this time, some of my family was accompanying us and it was their first visit to Beijing. Michael arranged to have one of his staff meet us at the airport. If you've ever been to Beijing, you know how stressful getting a cab can be, negotiating a rate and then surviving the rollercoaster ride into the city. Having someone pick us up, handle all our luggage and deliver us to our hotel in the convenience of a new van was priceless! The next day, Michael met us at the hotel to begin our tour. On our first day, we asked for him to accompany us as a translator so we could purchase draperies at the local textile markets. Form past experience, this is invaluable. He made our search, description of what we wanted and negotiation to the local tailor a breeze. The second day, he met us in the morning to begin our tour of the Summer Palace. He provided excellent information before we arrived and accompanied us through the Palace. Michael's easy going attitude made the tour very enjoyable. After the tour, he selected a local restaurant to go to which was an excellent choice. This tour day concluded with a visit to the Temple of Heaven. Our day was really fun! Just when we thought the day was over, Michael gave us opportunity to have a rickshaw tour of a local Hutong. This was such a cool tour!! I'd highly recommend it if you have opportunity. The third day, we started early and set off to the great wall. This was the hi-lite of my family's trip! Michael gave us a bit of history while we travelled there and then walked the wall with us. The day was gorgeous and warm - it was perfect in every regard. He allowed us as much time as we wanted and didn't press us to keep a specific schedule. It was very relaxing. The last day, he brought us to the Forbidden City. His explanations through out the tour really provided insight into what we were looking at and gave us a glimpse into the past history of this amazing country. Michael also arranged our transfers back to the airport at the end of our 9 day trip. He also followed up on our drapery delivery which was above and beyond what was expected. I would sincerely recommend Michael and his company if you are planning tours in Beijing. You won't be disappointed!

Why this scores 70
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Beijing.
How much does Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City cost?
+
Prices start at $168 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Beijing usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City take?
+
Plan for about 48 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Beijing is not rushed.
Is Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 70 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 9 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Beijing, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 48-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City?
+
Around 3 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Beijing can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Beijing and add a light layer if any part of the 48-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Private 2-Day Beijing With Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Beijing within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Beijing?
+
On Outty we rank every Beijing experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Mubus: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour with Summer Palace Options, Beijing: Top 6 Highlights All Inclusive 2-Day Private Tour, Private Mutianyu Great Wall Trip With English-Speaking Driver. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Beijing?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Beijing?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
