What you'll see and do
Prambanan Temples
The morning starts with meeting your English-speaking guide at the lobby of your downtown Yogyakarta hotel. Together with a dedicated driver, the journey from Yogya to the realms of the Prambanan, an 8th-century Hindu temple complex which also is known locally as the complex of Lorojongrang, will take approximately 45 minutes in an eastern direction. The 20-kilometre long drive delivers ample views on local life, significant to Java. Heralded as the world’s largest Hindu temple, and now under the protection of UNESCO since 1991, the whole Prambanan is said to include over 200 separate temples structures of which many still remain visible. After its rediscovery, the temple remains an important place for Hindu festivals and events for the Indonesian population.

Upon arrival, follow your guide to admire the exquisite carvings that have withstood the test of time. Large parts of these stone carvings tell the story of the Ramayana, a story filled with symbolism. Throughout the exploration of these sacred grounds with over 240 recorded temples and buildings (the highest point is 47 metres above ground level), the guide will go in-depth about the connection between the Prambanan and its surrounding temples, both with a Hindu and Buddhist origin. There will be enough time to stroll around and admire the beautiful carvings and the neighbouring shrines such as the Candi Plaosan and the Candi Sewu. After the last snapshots, it is time to head back to your air-conditioned vehicle and for a leisurely drive back to Yogyakarta. Depending on traffic conditions, you will arrive at your booked accommodation just after midday

Our guide, Sophia, was wonderful!
We had a wonderful experience. Our guide spoke perfect English, was very knowledgeable and a lovely human being. The car and driver were great. It was an exceptional experience.
Response from the operator: Dear Nycrob It is truly wonderful to read how much you’ve enjoyed this Yogyakarta excursion, together with our guide. The importance of being guided and getting an explanation of the stories, the myths and facts around the Prambanan Temple in its full glory is more than just the icing on the cake. We extremely proud in reading that this Asian Trails Indonesia ambassador has exceeded expectations and shows that these colleagues are invaluable for the success of our operation. We will pass these kind words of appreciation on to all concerned. It has been our sincere pleasure showing you the marvels of Indonesia, and we’re looking forward showing you (much) more in the near future. With kind regards Asian Trails Indonesia

A bit tiring, but worthwhile
Fascinating temple complex - worth more time than we could give it. We followed it up with a nearby performance of the epic Ramayana, which was excellent.

Why this scores 65
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Yogyakarta.
How much does Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta cost?
+
Prices start at $68 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Yogyakarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta take?
+
Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Yogyakarta is not rushed.
Is Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 65 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 6 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Yogyakarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Yogyakarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yogyakarta and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Prambanan Hindu Realms Half Day Tour in Yogyakarta start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Yogyakarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Yogyakarta?
+
On Outty we rank every Yogyakarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yogyakarta Private Car Hire with Driver, From Surabaya / Malang : Mt Bromo Sunrise - Ijen Blue Fire 2D1N, Borobudur Full Climb Up And Prambanan ALL INCLUSIVE PRIVATE Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Yogyakarta?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Yogyakarta?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
