    About this experience

Explore the thousand temples in Prambanan may sound very tiring. Not only a thousand temples that can be explored with a legendary history, the sunset also could be enjoyed while release tiring mind. After enjoying the sunset, we can take you to try the delicious traditional food of Yogyakarta. The journey is not just up here. If you go to Prambanan, it is not complete if you don’t watch Ramayana Ballet. After dinner, we’ll take you to see these performances. Based on an epic Hindu poem, the story of King Rama was adapted to become an important local dance, encompassing the Javanese style, culture and music. Whilst the story originated in India, the Javanese version is a representative of the local art and culture. The show started in the evening when the sky’s getting dark. Involving hundreds of professional dancers and musicians on an open air stage that takes advantage of the Prambanan Temples as a backdrop.

    Poor experience

This was the fourth trip that we booked with trip advisor in 15 days time. 2 water in Seoul. It was very well organised with English speaking guide etc. We were very disappointed with this Prambanan trip. The driver did not speak a word of English. There was no guide from your side or even there at the temple. We had to tag along with another guide after requesting permission from them. Horrible experience.

Response from the operator: Dear Lovely Customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your Prambanan trip. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. We’re disappointed to hear that your Prambanan trip did not meet your expectations. Our goal is to provide exceptional experiences for all our guests, and it's clear we fell short in this case. We apologize for the lack of a guide during your visit. This is certainly not the standard we aim for, and we will investigate this matter further. We value your feedback and will use it to improve our services. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Sincerely, Heri MenorehTour

    A fabulous experience

We went to the Prambanan Temple complex in July 2023. FYI, security will kick you out at sunset so don’t get too comfy with a nice spot at Prambanan or Sewu temples. Later attended the Ramayanan Ballet. We bought Class1 seats (second cheapest) and the seats were fabulous. Was really interesting and the end of the first scene was something else (you’ll have to go to find out why). Definitely recommend the two experiences. BTW- if you’re looking for somewhere to eat before the show, go to the convenience shop across the road from the ballet entry and there’s a little eatery attached to it. The meals were cheap 10-15Rp and delicious!

Response from the operator: Dear Lovely Customer, Thank you so much for sharing your detailed feedback about your visit to the Prambanan Temple complex and the Ramayanan Ballet. We're thrilled to hear that you had such a wonderful experience! Your tips about the sunset closure at the temples and the fabulous Class 1 seats at the ballet are incredibly helpful for future visitors. We appreciate your recommendation and will definitely pass it along. We're also glad you found a great spot to eat before the show. It sounds like a hidden gem with delicious and affordable meals. Thank you once again for your insights and recommendations. We hope to see you again soon on your next adventure! Best regards, Nisa

Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Yogyakarta.

How much does Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet cost?

    +

Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Yogyakarta usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Yogyakarta is not rushed.

Is Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 56 out of 100, which we label "Worth a Look". That score blends traveler sentiment (4/5 across 3 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Yogyakarta, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet?

    +

Around 1 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Yogyakarta can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Yogyakarta and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Prambanan Temple (Sunset) – Ramayana / Roro Jonggrang Ballet start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Yogyakarta within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Yogyakarta?

    +

On Outty we rank every Yogyakarta experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Yogyakarta Private Car Hire with Driver, From Surabaya / Malang : Mt Bromo Sunrise - Ijen Blue Fire 2D1N, Borobudur Full Climb Up And Prambanan ALL INCLUSIVE PRIVATE Tour. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Yogyakarta?

    +

Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Yogyakarta?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
