Bringing Porto Alive, your way!
We had a very limited time in Porto and this was a great way to get the most out of it. When I booked, I received a questionnaire asking what our interests were - art, local cuisine, architecture. We were paired with Mayinka who reached out before the tour to help coordinate and plan our tour. She is bursting with energy and enthusiasm for the arts and for Porto! We started off with a visit to a food market, where she arranged tasting of olive oils, local cured meats, and other things we expressed interest in. Then we were off to a chocolate shop for more tasting, and she showed us several local restaurants she recommended highly. After that we were walking here, there and everywhere. The benefit of the private tour was that we were able to skip things we had already seen (the famous bridge of Porto), and see unique street art we would never have known to look for! Mayinka knew all the history and fun stories as well. I really appreciated her in-depth knowledge of the current local art scene, it really helped bring the city alive to us! It’s a great way to spend a morning in Porto. Highly recommend!
Response from the operator: It's wonderful that Mayinka was able to tailor the tour to your interests, from local food tastings to the city's vibrant art scene and hidden gems. Truly such a memorable and personalized experience for you in Porto. Thank you for your fantastic review and for your recommendation! We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!

It is a walking tour, and the city's hills can certainly make for a bit of a workout, but we hope the views and sights made it worthwhile. Fantastic private food tour of Porto!
Malwina(Mayinka) was amazing! I have trouble walking and she met us at our hotel to start the tour. She explained everything beautifully; she is extremely knowledgeable about food and Porto history. She introduced us to a fabulous variety of food and drink in an area near us through both the market and a private café. She took us to an amazing chocolate shop where they have local chocolates and flavored oils in tubes, which is something I have never experienced. She was helpful, entertaining, sweet and kept the whole tour at a pace that I could handle with my disability. She made the day extremely pleasant/wonderful for my husband & me! She also took me to a wonderful shop where they had handmade Portuguese porcelains that I wanted to see, between food shopping/tasting! I recommend her 100%!!
Response from the operator: We're absolutely delighted to hear that you had such a wonderful experience with Malwina . It's fantastic to know that she tailored the day to your pace, met you at your hotel, and created such a personalized experience that combined Porto's history, food, and local culture. We're especially pleased that she was able to accommodate your mobility needs while ensuring you and your husband had a memorable and enjoyable day.

Great walking tour of Porto
Had a great introduction to Porto on our private walking tour with Antonio. He grew up in the area, so could share personal insights on how Porto has evolved over the years. He’s also a genuinely personable individual, who is passionate about the city. We covered a lot of ground and learned a lot in our 3 hours together. He also left us with great suggestions for further exploration on our own.
Response from the operator: We're so glad you enjoyed such a great introduction to Porto. It’s wonderful to hear the experience combined local history, personal insights, and plenty of recommendations that helped you continue exploring the city long after your time together. Thank you for sharing your kind feedback — we're delighted this became such a memorable part of your visit to Porto.

Why this scores 77
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems cost?
+
Prices start at $10 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.9/5 across 71 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems?
+
Around 25 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Porto Private Custom Tour with a Local: Highlights & Hidden Gems start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
