Fantastic Seafood, Portuguese Food History and Cooking Lessons, and Company!
Vitor is amazing, a wonderful way to spend a day! He drove us all (8 class participants) to a historic seafood and produce market in Porto and we watched him select the fish, octopus, vegetables and other ingredients for our cooking class. He explained why he was making his selections and we had the opportunity to wander around the market on our own. Was so nice of him to pick us up from our vacation apartment in the morning and not have to locate the meeting point on our own. Vitor runs a very organized class, he expertly explains what we’re going to do, and demonstrates the process. He’s there to help with his staff if we are not getting it right! All along the way we have snacks and wine. Each dish was delicious and we learned a lot of Portuguese food history in addition to having a great meal and great company! A wonderful experience I would recommend to anyone interested in food culture. An experience we will always remember. Thank you Vitor (and George!) for a wonderful day!

An exceptional and authentic experience not to be missed!
Nothing better than shopping for your lunch at the Mercado and cooking with Viktor and Jorge. A cooking experience not to be missed

Amazing!
From the time you get picked up, to the walk in the market to buy the food you will be cooking, to the kitchen experience. Amazing experience!

Fabulous Day! Highly recommend.
AMAZING! We love to do cooking classes when in need countries.. food is the soul of a community and you can learn so much from these traditions. It was fantastic to have an expert to guide us at the fish market. Then walk us through a 3 course meal. We were a family of 3 and was a highlight of our trip to Portugal. Vitor and Jorge were fabulous. Highly recommend.

A cooking class that was our favorite experience in Porto
Absolutely spectacular. We started the day getting picked up outside of Livraria Lello (which our guide suggested since we were going there that morning). We then headed to a local market to pick out our fresh fish and vegetables for our meal. Then we headed back to their converted kitchen / apartment. We broke up preparation for the different parts of the meal - appetizers, main, and desert. We made a mushroom appetizer, a shrimp appetizer, a fish / rice dish, and an almond tart. Very hands on with lots of guidance. And plenty of good local wine flowing throughout. I found this to be one of the absolute best experiences I have ever had on vacation, and I highly recommend it. Vitor and Jorge were so friendly and informative. I can't wait to visit Porto again in hopes of attending another cooking class with them.

Why this scores 67
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day cost?
+
Prices start at $228 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day take?
+
Plan for about 5 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 67 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 38 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 5-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 5-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Porto Market Tour & Cooking Class - Half Day start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
