About this experience
Hi everyone, I’m Jonny! I started my own small tour company to share the Douro Valley in a relaxed, personal and authentic way. My philosophy is simple: quality over quantity. That’s why I keep my groups small, with only 4–8 guests, and work with carefully selected local partners. We start with a guided visit to a local winery, learning about the Douro and tasting different Douro and Port wines. Next, relax on a one-hour boat cruise and enjoy some of the valley’s most beautiful landscapes. For lunch, we visit a second winery for a traditional Portuguese meal with starters, main course and dessert, accompanied by local wine. Along the way, we’ll stop at some of my favourite viewpoints for photos and to enjoy the incredible scenery. Tours are usually in English or German, with occasional bilingual tours depending on the group. Everything is carefully planned, but never rushed. Small groups, local partners and a personal Douro experience. Hope to see you soon! Jonny :)

We had an amazing day in...
We had an amazing day in the Douro Valley with Jonathan! The whole trip was relaxed, comfortable, and very well organized. The highlight was visiting an authentic family vineyard, where Luis shared his family's winemaking history and explained the wine-making process in a really interesting and engaging way. The wine tasting was excellent, and it felt like a genuine local experience. Lunch at the family-run restaurant was delicious, and the hospitality was outstanding. Everyone made us feel so welcome. Overall, it was an informative, enjoyable day with great wine, great food, and a fantastic guide. We would definitely recommend this tour!
Response from the operator: Hi Isha, Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It really means a lot to me and helps my small business grow. It was a real pleasure to have you on my humble tour, and I'll always remember you as my first couple from Dublin! I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed the experience. I hope to welcome you back to Portugal one day. Thank you again for your kind words. All the best, Jonny

amazing day in duoro valley
My fiance and I were lucky enough to somehow end up on this tour by ourselves with Jonny and we couldn’t have had a better time! He has thoughtfully and carefully crafted the perfect day to explore the duoro valley and experience it as if you were a local. We went to a lesser known vineyard which to me was so special to see because he cares so much about his product and building his future with his family, the boat tour was a nice break in the afternoon & we ended with a local lunch cuisine that was incredible. Jonny even stops at a special view point that you can’t get too if your on a bigger tour and helped us celebrate our recent engagement with additional champagne. Everything about the experience was great and we’re so thankful to Jonny for being so kind, informative and fun to hang out with for the day!! Highly suggest tour !!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your beautiful words. It was truly a pleasure to share such a special moment in your lives and celebrate your engagement with you in the Douro Valley. I'll never forget that day, and I'm grateful from the bottom of my heart for your support. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness together. Take care, and I hope our paths cross again someday! 🥂😊 Jonny

This Douro Valley wine...
This Douro Valley wine tour exceeded every expectation we had. From start to finish, Jonny crafted an absolutely magical day that we'll be talking about for years to come. What sets Jonny apart isn't just his extensive knowledge of the region and its wines though that's certainly impressive, it's his genuine passion for sharing Portugal with visitors. He didn't feel like a tour guide at all; it felt like exploring with a friend who genuinely cared about creating unforgettable moments for us. His van was comfortable, which made the journey through those winding valley roads a pleasure. On our drive back, we all sang songs together. It was such a fun moment that we'll always remember. The highlight was absolutely visiting the small, family-owned quintas that have been passed down through generations. Hearing the families share their stories, their deep-rooted passion, and the traditions they've preserved was genuinely moving. The scenery at each vineyard was breathtaking. These experiences completely transformed how we think about wine and Portuguese wine culture. It's not just about the drink itself, but about family, tradition, and a way of life. The unhurried, intimate tastings and the authentic connections we made gave us such a deeper appreciation. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Portugal!
Response from the operator: Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. I’m very sentimental as well, so reading this genuinely made me emotional. I also enjoyed the day so much with you guys — it felt more like spending the day with friends than working. These are exactly the kinds of memories that stay with us forever, and I’m very grateful to have shared them with you. It was an absolute pleasure to have you aboard. I hope we meet again one day for another adventure together. Until then, thank you once again for your kindness and support. ur 4 ever friend in Portugal Jonny :)

A welcoming, family experience
We had a wonderful time with Jonny in the Douro Valley. When he talks about having a “homemade-style Portuguese” lunch and visiting an “authentic, family-owned” wine estate, he is vastly understating the experience. While we also visited a major, historic estate, the lunch and tasting at the smaller wine estate felt like visiting family. We ate in the owners’ home, and to top it off, their 22 year-old tawny port was outstanding. It all felt warm, welcoming, and intimate. Thank you!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for this beautiful and thoughtful review. Reading your words truly makes me happy because this is exactly the kind of experience I always hope to create — something personal, authentic, warm, and memorable rather than just a standard wine tour. I’m so glad you enjoyed the family-owned estate and the homemade Portuguese lunch. For me, these moments are the real heart of the Douro Valley: sitting around a table, sharing stories, food, wine, and feeling genuinely welcomed. It means a lot to hear that you felt like family there, because that’s exactly how I feel every time I visit them as well. And yes… that 22-year-old tawny port is something truly special! Thank you again for your kindness, your trust, and for sharing this day with me. It was a real pleasure to have you aboard, and I truly hope our paths cross again someday here in Portugal. Jonny

The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Porto.
How much does Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch cost?
+
Prices start at $96 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Porto usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch take?
+
Plan for about 9 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Porto is not rushed.
Is Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 77 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 36 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Porto, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 9-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch?
+
Around 13 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Porto can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Porto and add a light layer if any part of the 9-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Porto: Douro Valley Small-Group Tour – 2 Wineries, Cruise & Lunch start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Porto within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Porto?
+
On Outty we rank every Porto experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include The Unvanquished Tour in Porto City Center, Porto's #1 Walking Tour, Small Group Geres National Park Full Day with picnic from Porto. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Porto?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Porto?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
