Physically easy and fun
I had always thought this would be physically demanding, and was surprised at how easy it was. Anyone can do this and I recommend you do. Matt is a brilliant teacher and tour guide, and will show you a perspective of nature you would otherwise not see. He gets 5/5 from me, and he’ll be getting me as a returned customer.

Brilliant Descent of Waterfall in Port Alice
We did the four hour Waterfall Rappelling in Port Alice. It’s a must do. The scenery was brilliant, the company was fun yet made you feel safe, and was just the right amount of challenging that you could easily succeed. I want to go again. This awoke a thirst within. Cannot recommend Matt highly enough. If you are debating this, just do it.

Great day canyoning in Port Alice
A friend and I took a wander down through a canyon in Port Alice, Vancouver Island with Mat a few weeks ago and had a great day out in a beautiful part of the world. The repels were varied and Mat set up and explained everything perfectly for each decent. Overall I found Mat to be very professional and personable and would highly recommend this adventure. Its a perfect reason to go see Port Alice as well.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are thrilled to hear that you and your friend had such a great day out in the canyon! It’s awesome to hear that you enjoyed the variety of the rappels. We take a lot of pride in making sure everyone feels safe and informed, so I’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Matt. He’ll be happy to know his "professional and personable" approach helped make the day memorable for you both. You’re absolutely right, the canyon is a spectacular way to see a side of Port Alice that most people never get to experience. Thanks again for the recommendation, and we hope to see you back on the Island for another adventure down the road!

Amazong company
Two years ago I did a tour with their sister company in the Rockies (Banff Canyoning) and this time I visited my daughter and we did a road trip through Vancouver Island and we went canyoning with Matt in Port Alice! We loved it and would definitely recommend it (we would also recommend visiting Port Alice because its a beautiful spot)
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the kind words and for making us a part of your Vancouver Island road trip. It’s a huge compliment that you sought us out after your experience with our sister company, Banff Canyoning. We’ll be sure to tell the Rockies team you said hi! We are thrilled that you and your daughter had a great time exploring the canyons with Matt. He’s a pro at showing off the hidden gems of the Island, and we couldn't agree more about Port Alice, it truly is one of the most beautiful, "off-the-beaten-path" spots in BC. We hope the rest of your road trip was just as spectacular. Safe travels, and we hope to see you in another canyon again soon!

Port Alice Zip Lining Adventure
As a first timer to zip-lining I felt very confident and safe following Matthew's instruction, and had so much fun on the route he set up. I highly recommend any of the excursions Western Canyoning Adventure-Vancouver Island offers! Thank you Matthew, you are an excellent adventure guide!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for the 5-star recommendation. We are so happy to hear that your very first ziplining experience in Port Alice was a success! Matthew takes great pride in being an excellent adventure guide, especially when it comes to helping first-timers feel confident and safe while navigating the rugged terrain of Northern Vancouver Island. We’ve worked hard to design our routes at Western Canyoning Adventure-Vancouver Island to be both accessible and exciting, so it’s wonderful to know you had so much fun on the lines Matthew set up! Whether you're looking for ziplining, waterfall rappelling, or a full canyoning excursion, we have something for everyone. We can't wait to welcome you back for another North Island adventure soon! Why this scores 60
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Port Alice Canyoning Activity: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Vancouver Island.
How much does Port Alice Canyoning Activity cost?
+
Prices start at $225 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Vancouver Island usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Port Alice Canyoning Activity take?
+
Plan for about 4 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Vancouver Island is not rushed.
Is Port Alice Canyoning Activity worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 60 out of 100, which we label "Solid Choice". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 5 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Vancouver Island, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Port Alice Canyoning Activity?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Port Alice Canyoning Activity suitable for kids and families?
+
The operator sets a minimum age of 12. Older children generally do well here, and families should factor in the 4-hour running time when deciding.
How far in advance should I book Port Alice Canyoning Activity?
+
Around 2 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Vancouver Island can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Vancouver Island and add a light layer if any part of the 4-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Port Alice Canyoning Activity start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Vancouver Island within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Vancouver Island?
+
On Outty we rank every Vancouver Island experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Victoria Guided Food and History Tour, Victoria Whale and Wildlife Cruise, Victoria Half-Day Whale Watching Adventure with Free Photos. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Vancouver Island?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Vancouver Island?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
