    2. Grotte di Pilato

These grottoes named for Pontious Pilate are an exciting first stop for our itinerary.

      25 minutes here

    3. Chiaia Di Luna

This smooth, moon colored cliff is a favorite stop in Ponza. Your tour leader will describe the romantic legend that gives the cliff its name. If the sea conditions are right, we might even have a swim stop here.

      25 minutes here

    4. Capo Bianco

This unique rock formation is bright white, and thats because it was formed from compressed volcanic ash called. There is even a long grotto that runs straight through the cliff here, and at noon the sun creates spectacular blue reflections in the water, retro-illuminating the grotto. Are you adventurous enough to swim through the grotto end to end? If the sea conditions are right, join your tour leader for this unique experience!

      25 minutes here

    5. Piscine Naturali

One of the more popular swimming areas reachable by land, the "Natural Pools" are a sight to behold... perfect swimming pools carved into the rocks by nature.

      Pass by without stopping

    6. Cala Feola

Cala Feola is Ponza's second port, for smaller boats and is the main area of a quieter side of the island.

      Pass by without stopping

    7. Cala dell'Acqua

Today Ponza doesn't have its own water source, but long ago, it did and we can see the remnants here in this cove, called "of the water" just for this reason. Note the tiny waterfalls trickling down the cliffside... runoff from what is left of Ponza natural spring. You can also still see the ruins of an ancient Roman aqueduct that once carried the water throughout the island.

      25 minutes here

    8. Cala Fonte

Another beautiful little cove most easily reached by boat.

      Pass by without stopping

    9. Cala Cecata

Lots of history near this little cove. We'll float over the spot where an American landing ship tank sunk during a storm in WWII, a popular spot for divers today. Survey the remnants of a mine that once provided jobs to the Ponzan people. The closure of the mine marked a turning point in the history of the island, to an economy based heavily on fishing and tourism.

      25 minutes here

    10. Cala Felci

Nearing the northernmost tip of Ponza, we'll discover the colorful "Felci Cove". Here, sulphur has colored the cliff walls a bright yellow which contracts with the sparkling emerald of the sea here. This is a common swimming spot, and we'll likely drop anchor here to explore.

      30 minutes here

    11. Arco Naturale

Ponza is a volcanic island, meaning the rock here is soft and constantly being shaped and moulded by the sea. No better example of this can be seen than here, at the "Natural Arch" -- a giant sea stack which has been hollowed out in the center forming an enormous rock arch, big enough to pass a boat under.

      25 minutes here

    12. Spiaggia Di Frontone

The last stop before heading back to port is the Beach of "Frontone". This is the most popular beach on the island and even at the end of the day it is crowded with Italian sunbathers.

Unforgettable Experience in the Hidden Paradise of Ponza

Our tour in Ponza was an amazing experience! The guide who welcomed us was incredibly friendly, professional, and communicative, making the whole day enjoyable from start to finish. The boat was comfortable and perfect for exploring the island. Everything was very well organized, and Ponza itself is absolutely stunning and it deserves to be much more famous for its crystal-clear waters . Highly recommended!

    Our Ponza highlight

So fun! Lots of swimming / snorkel stops at pretty coves with clear water. The impressive coastline’s geology and history was explained by the captain with translation into English for us by Mara, who was wonderful and enthusiastic. Pasta dish impressive for prep on a boat! Would highly recommend!

    10+ hour day

This day isn’t 5 hours. It’s more like 10-12 hours. Was a massive day of more travel than fun. Probably wouldn’t do again even though I had a great time the travelling to and from was too long. Boat trip was unreal the history was amazing and the swimming was incredible. Our tour guide was so lovely and very friendly which is why I have 4 stars but the travelling was the downfall

Response from the operator: We’re glad to read that our guide managed to let you enjoy the day in Ponza beside the “downfall” of transfers. You’re totally right! Ponza can gift stunning landscapes and unforgettable moments ❤️🌊 Just to be precise: you’re right the tour is not just of 5 hours, that’s why is listed as a DAY TOUR. All the schedule is available on the booking page and in the memo-mail we always send before the tour, from there is possible to know in advance all the schedule and the transports needed to reach the island of Ponza.

Boat tour exploring all of Ponza's coastline

The tour went around the entire island with several swimming stops at beautiful coves and with descriptions of the attractions and history. There were about 20 people in the group, so if you're looking for something more intimate this may not be the tour for you, but the boat was comfortable and the staff took their time to show the island.

Response from the operator: Hi there, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review! We’re really glad you enjoyed the tour around the island and appreciated the beautiful swim spots, the comfort of the boat, and the efforts of our staff to share the island’s history and highlights. You're absolutely right – our standard group tours can include around 20 people, or also more, which makes for a fun and social experience. But for those looking for something a bit more intimate, we completely understand – and that’s why we also offer “small group” and “private tour” options, designed for a more exclusive and personal experience. We’d love to have you back again, maybe next time for a quieter day on the water! Thanks again and warm wishes,

Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch: questions travelers ask

Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Rome.

How much does Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch cost?

    +

Prices start at $89 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Rome usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.

How long does Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch take?

    +

Plan for about 6 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Rome is not rushed.

Is Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch worth it?

    +

It holds an Outty Ranking of 78 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (4.8/5 across 89 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable most popular in Rome, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.

Can I cancel or reschedule Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch?

    +

Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.

Is Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch suitable for kids and families?

    +

Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 6-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.

How far in advance should I book Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch?

    +

Around 31 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Rome can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.

What should I bring or wear?

    +

Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Rome and add a light layer if any part of the 6-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.

Where does Ponza Island 6 hours Boat Excursion with Swimming Stops and Lunch start and how do I get there?

    +

The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Rome within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.

What are the best things to do in Rome?

    +

Rome runs on skip-the-line access. The Colosseum underground, the Vatican before opening, and the catacombs south of the walls all require a licensed operator, and the price gap between the good ones and the rest is smaller than you would expect. We rank by guide credentials, group size and how reliably the promised access actually materialises. On Outty we rank every Rome experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Rome Pasta and Tiramisu Class: Ravioli, Fettuccine & Fine Wine 5*, Pasta Making & Wine Tasting with Dinner in Frascati from Rome, Rome: Pizza & Tiramisu or Gelato Class with Flowing Fine Wine 5*. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.

When is the best time to visit Rome?

    +

April, May, September and October. August is hot and half the city is shut. Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.

How many days do you need in Rome?

    +

Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.

Do I book through Outty or through the operator?

    +

Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
