Great experience with a highly knowledgeable guide
Roberta is a fabulous guide, knowledgeable and practical, who led us through a combined tour of Pompeii, Oplontis, and Herculaneum. She wisely chose different areas of focus in each location, creating a holistic experience that felt compelling and thoughtful. We learned a lot and got a real sense of life in these locations. Thank you so much, Roberta!
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your kind words! Hope to see you again for another experience together!

Roberta is the best!!!
We had an incredible time with Roberta!! She is a true expert on Pompeii and clearly passionate about history. She catered the tour to our group's interests and kept it interesting and informative. Not all of us are history buffs but she made it so we all enjoyed and had a lot of fun. We especially appreciated that she took us to an area where an active dig is taking place, which we never would have found on our own. The time flew by but we could have spent all day with Roberta!! Also, before the tour it was very easy to communicate with her. I HIGHLY recommend Roberta and will seek her out for other tours when we return to the Naples area.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much for your nice words! I'll wait for you for other experiences together!

Roberta Avila as guide in Naples and Pompeii
Roberta Avila is one of many professional guides I and my agency have used in recent years. She is unquestionably one of the best, most engaging and informed guides I've worked with. Her English is excellent, and she is clearly an expert in her field and was entirely at ease whether talking about art, archeology, or the complexities of Italian history. Plus, she's very personable and flexible and has a gift for adapting excursions to the precise needs of the group. I would highly recommend her for both small and large group excursions in Naples and the surrounding areas.
Response from the operator: Thank you so much Marc! See you soon back to Naples!

Why this scores 79
The Outty Ranking is a weighted composite. Here is how this experience performed on each component.
Pompeii Tour with experienced guide: questions travelers ask
Practical detail on this experience, plus the wider planning questions for Pompeii.
How much does Pompeii Tour with experienced guide cost?
+
Prices start at $20 per person. The final price depends on the date, the time slot and the number of travelers, and peak weekends in Pompeii usually price higher than midweek mornings. Live pricing and remaining availability are confirmed on the booking screen before you pay.
How long does Pompeii Tour with experienced guide take?
+
Plan for about 2 hours from start to finish, not counting travel to the meeting point. Most travelers leave another 30 minutes on either side so the rest of the day in Pompeii is not rushed.
Is Pompeii Tour with experienced guide worth it?
+
It holds an Outty Ranking of 79 out of 100, which we label "Strongly Recommended". That score blends traveler sentiment (5/5 across 41 reviews), the depth of that review evidence, recent booking momentum, value for money against comparable last minute in Pompeii, and how flexible the cancellation terms are.
Can I cancel or reschedule Pompeii Tour with experienced guide?
+
Yes. Cancel free up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window the booking is non-refundable, and no-shows are not refunded.
Is Pompeii Tour with experienced guide suitable for kids and families?
+
Yes, all ages are welcome. Families should still weigh the 2-hour running time, and strollers are easier on the earlier, quieter departures.
How far in advance should I book Pompeii Tour with experienced guide?
+
Around 14 people booked this in the last 30 days, so popular slots go early. Two to three weeks ahead is comfortable in shoulder season, while summer weekends and holidays in Pompeii can sell out a month out. Same-day spots do open up when other travelers cancel, so it is worth checking if you are already in town.
What should I bring or wear?
+
Bring photo ID, your booking confirmation on your phone, a refillable water bottle and comfortable shoes. Dress for the weather in Pompeii and add a light layer if any part of the 2-hour experience runs outdoors or after sunset.
Where does Pompeii Tour with experienced guide start and how do I get there?
+
The exact meeting point and directions are on your voucher once you book, and they sit in central Pompeii within reach of public transport. Arrive 15 minutes early: late arrivals are treated as no-shows by most operators.
What are the best things to do in Pompeii?
+
On Outty we rank every Pompeii experience on the same 0 to 100 scale, and alongside this one the highest scorers right now include Premium Minivan Trip from Rome: Pompeii Tour & Lunch in Sorrento, Skip the Line Guided Tour of Pompeii Led by an Archaeologist, Explore Pompeii with an Archaeologist. The city page groups everything into most popular, highest reviewed, last minute and family-friendly so you can build a day around what actually delivers.
When is the best time to visit Pompeii?
+
Booking patterns follow the same curve: prices and queues climb in peak weeks, while shoulder season gives you better availability on the top-ranked experiences and more room to change plans.
How many days do you need in Pompeii?
+
Three full days covers the headline sights without sprinting. A workable rhythm is one anchor experience each morning, such as this one, an unhurried afternoon in a single neighborhood, then a food or nightlife booking in the evening. Five days lets you add a day trip outside the city.
Do I book through Outty or through the operator?
+
Outty ranks and explains the experiences, then hands you to Viator to complete the booking with the operator directly. The price is the same as booking on Viator yourself, and Outty earns an affiliate commission on the referral, which is how the rankings stay free to read.
